Well at least I picked up two things on the TBR today... Jack and Sh*t.

FYI: SportsExpert.ca recently sold for $5580 USD on Sedo.

It sold on December 16th, 2019 but I think it was just added on Namebio today.

It doesn't resolve yet but 'm guessing it was bought by the store "Sports Experts", which uses SportsExperts.ca. Too many s's in their name if you ask me. SportExpert.ca or even SportExperts.ca would be better imo.

To Be Released (TBR) .CA Results & Leftovers for January 8, 2020

The TBR list stayed well over 8,000 expired domains for the second week in a row, and while the true premium quality was not there, the sheer quantity of single-words was impressive. The number of LLL domains remained extremely low, and to be honest, seeing an end result of 130 domains selected was a big surprise, especially after the recent lull. Some of the notable Top 10 picks featured...

Okay, so a pile of weird and dodgy domains are selected on this week's TBR run, but not Zimbabwe.ca? Not even on a cheap flier at NamesPro.ca?

I don't get it, the domain hasn't be out in wild since before 2000, it's a real country GEO with Canadian companies and groups using it, yet it didn't get picked... hopefully it's gone by now.

i have 3 3L that i'm not renewing so i thought i would put them in a GD 7 day auction before they expire, nothing special bids starting at $20 - 0 bids. yet domainers and companies alike climb all over each other every week for what are sometimes pigeon-sh*t 3L names . zju, really. (not that my 3 are premium, gzz, jxx, wxd). maybe later on when they show up on the TBR they will get some action, because by then of course they will have become premium.

It was indeed a weird TBR session.... seedoftheyear.ca, smellslikecanada.ca, heroin-addiction.ca, grabngo.ca... It would be neat to know who bid on these names and for what reasons. Hopefully there's a reason and not because they think they're inherently great.

That's exactly it, and for some reason domainers see LLL.ca's for sale and they think "old stuff he couldn't sell" while the same LLL's on the TBR are viewed as "fresh, new and easily sold".

My theory is that the New Year brings New Domain Investors, and it's clear from the run on LLLs of late, that someone is using the .COM rules to buy .CAs, which is a huge mistake.

Remember a few months ago, there were 64 or so LLL drops and a lot of them sold? Well, they were all better than the low-end leftovers from the past few weeks.

I did a quick search of the domains i mentioned and it seems like most were previously in use and people either gave up on the website and/or forgot to renew their domain. Either that or the name is used in another extension or is similar to an existing .ca website. I guess it's not surprising but I wonder if most of these somewhat crappy TBR domains are registered for similar reasons.

Which .COM rules are you referring to in this instance? Do you mean registering LLL.ca's and expecting they'll sell quick like LLL.com's?

I think mapledots is the one buying these domains and is just trying change the conversation with news about Justin Bieber. Admit it! lol

In any event, still interesting news. Lyme disease ain’t no joke.

Avril Lavigne suffered with debilitating Lyme disease for quite some time. It wasn’t diagnosed early and prolonged the disease as she didn’t get on the right meds soon enough.

I got an email today that Dynadot are doing a .ca matching promotion. If you have a word in some other TLD registered at Dynadot, and the same word is available in .ca just $0.99 USD for one year. Does anyone know if other registrars have a similar promotion? Anyway thought I would share the word in case helpful to anyone. Obviously I have no association (other than as customer) with them and hope that sharing this does not break any posting rules. I am not clear if one could newly register a name and it would qualify.

If you have a domain in your Dynadot account and want to register that same name (if available) on the .CA extension, it's the perfect time to do so for only $0.99. Let fellow Canadians know your blog, business, online shop, etc. resides in Canada! Offer expires 1/31/20 23:59 PST.
Promo Code: CAMATCH99

Does any .ca Dropcatch provider show in auction, what other user id’s you are bidding against, or is this an industry wide thing of cloaking bidder id’s?

A previous .ca heavy hitter was active in trying to raise funds last week, I wonder if it has anything to do with this two letter?

Think this 100K sale might have anything to do with your comment about the .ca heavy hitter trying to raise funds? I am guessing no under the circumstances but it makes me wonder since this is the biggest reported sale in a long time.

I also find it interesting that Peter (from emall) would sell this domain considering he owns several websites that sell tickets, like HockeyTickets.ca, CheapTickets.ca, Billet(s).ca (and maybe more).... so it's a bit surprising that he wouldn't keep that domain for himself. He also sold it to company based in Montreal (where he's from), so essentially a competitor of his.... Maybe it's just a strategy to promote his emall portfolio, where there's a much more complex deal we don't know about? Anyway, thought it was worth pointing out.

It's possible he sold it to a business entity he owns or is affiliated with. It's an easy cash flow solution if the business account can handle it.

It's forwarding to 2Tickets.ca - is that new? It also lists info @ billets.ca as a contact info - did Peter sell that too, or is this the old format?

Or it may simply be the right price. I think even domain names people say are not for sale will be if someone comes along with the right price. Certainly, while the name is superb, this is a very good price considering sales of the last few years, at least those publicly reported (realize that may be less than 10% of the .ca actual sales).
