The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Rejected a $1000 offer for a mortgage related .ca today, I countered at $12k and spooked my fish. I believe there's much more in the tank for that industry.

I don't see much in the tank for "bookdomains". Books and publishing are large industries but combining that with domains, which is the smallest niche I can actually think of, is not going to get $40000 IMO.

Take a real good look at the list in Dan's post and honestly compare your name to those. I personally wouldn't hand reg your name.

I'm not trying to discourage you, I hope I'm being constructive.
Let's just hope for the best, Some clients I tell you, they ask for thy fortune..

SportsNut is goood. Do you work for the domainbrothers Juana? I see for sale landers are more appealing than offer pages, still more interested in scoring some kind of transfer deal, working with someone in this industry from Canada, though that is a .com you put for sale on here. I love both extensions.lol
I am a Broker, Whoever pays me lol

Cyberscan is goood. I like that you put a reasonable price on it, and a person has the option to make an offer.

I know all you need is one buyer, but in general I don't even understand what 'bookdomains' means and I'd consider myself pretty knowledgeable in domains.

Is about about book domains (like davincicode.ca or davincicodebook.ca) or a book about domains or a domain about books?

It doesn't seem obvious unless I'm missing something

Make kind of sense to me...if I was a broker (think real estate) and getting a percentage of a sale...the bigger the sale, the bigger the percentage payout...

A NICE LITTLE COMPARISON CHART

Now that whc.ca is done with the $2 sale I figured I would compare pricing.
They have cheaper registrations but the renewals are killer.

Crap, I now have to move 250 domains to Canspace when the year is up.

Is there a bulk way of doing that?
Just to get the codes that is hours of work.
I wish I could just automate it.

Anyone else have better pricing? (especially for .ca's)

Interesting prices...

smiled when I seen "x4.ca 2,500" ..LN, Nl, L-L, N-N, n--n, l--l used to be a niche (another extension) in my long term portfolio..
Today's the day...
http://tbr.cira.ca/?datet=2018/02/07
a few nice names listed..
Tried to register two names from that list at different time after "drop"but finally
just registered "cyberdragon.ca" (I think it is brandable) from that TBR list.
Also wanted "exerciseball.ca" (could have been exerciseballs <should have written it down) but already taken..

Guess it take a few hours after Cira drop time before I register (unless someone faster on the draw)?
Any time suggestions?

Just noticed your posting @MapleDots just paid $4.16 Canadian (used paypal..) at namespro.ca

Picked a few more up on the post tbr used the NamesPro discounted reg for .ca's

I am now just going over my list and trying to put a Bin price on all domains, which im a little concerned about, by putting a BIN on the domains I have capped my sales price, I know I should be happy with prices i set.

In the past i was under the belief that "Make an Offer" or "Contact us" would be the better option, when an inquiry comes in you have time to research the person / email / company to see what their end use might be, and how deep their pockets are, also by opening up a dialogue you now create a interaction / connection with the prospect.

By putting a BIN price down I might scare off a potential buyer... say if i put a BIN for $10k on a domain, and purposely had set the price point on the high side because i didn't want to leave any money on the table if the right buyer comes around. But if that golden buyer, that can afford the 10k never appears, have I just missed the 10 buyers who would pay $2500 - $5k? ( some days i need $$ for bills so i might be inclined to let a domain go a lot cheaper to create some cash flow? )

I would be interested to hear your opinions on BIN or no BIN?

here are a few examples of domains and BIN pricing, Let me know what your thoughts are, I priced them based on Industry / Niche and value of their services, and the potential return on each customer in that niche.

I am wearing my big boy underwear.. I can handle the comments and suggestions, lol.

look forward to hearing any feed back to help me set appropriate prices.

Bulk transfer ? https://www.namespro.ca/TransferBulk.asp?sID=8DF7770C9FB3499F8DA8B78EC09228A8
(Note haven't checked the other Canadian registrars that I use...Namespro is open in one of my tabs)

I am aware of the bulk transfer option but it really is not bulk because you still have to go and grab each transfer code from the losing registrar and then apply it to each transfer manually at the receiving registrar. The only thing bulk allows you to do is to paste the domains in from your spreadsheet.

It would be great if you could verify 1-2 transfers and then transfer the others in bulk without the tedious manual labour.

My opinion only:
I don't think your names are worth that much.
What I like:
CreditApproved-I like your pricing on this one, but to get that price you need to ask $8-$10. Make Offer all the way.
Revitalize-That's a brandable spa name or wellness centre. That $3k is minimum. Make offer and let your enduser sweat the price.
Relieve-It's an alternative pharma name for pain relief. It's a big dollar name. $3k is too low IMO. Make offer.
CityFlorist-Who is your Enduser? What can they afford? BIN $500-$1500
ExpressDelivery-Courier/Transportation BIN $1500. Drop it $100 every quarter.

What I don't like and why:
CarMall-It's the wrong term. It's not an alternative to automall. "BobJonesAutoMall" or "GeoAutoMall" or "CityAutoMall" are better alternatives IMO, and can probably be hand regged.
WaterfrontListing-If an enduser is going to spend $10k they can probably afford to spend more and buy "Waterfront". I think at best it's low 4 figure. Real estate agents are extremely tight fisted and would rather spend their money putting their name and their face on the back of a bus. There are some who get domains, but they are rare.
VacationPropertyRentals-Keyword domains died 5 years ago. Businesses are using short, memorable, brandable names. Like Airbnb.
BcParalegals-The plural makes it a directory site. Google killed directory sites 10 years ago by becoming the directory.
SiliconeBreastImplants-Besides being long, silicone were the leakers and they don't use them anymore. Very negative connotation.

The rest are forgettable to me. I would put most of the names at Afternic with $99 BIN and not renew.

Sorry for the wall of text but I'm trying to be thorough.

This industry is a numbers game. There is an acquisition cost and there is a holding cost. You have to sell enough of your acquisitions to pay for your renewals. Typically domainers are selling less than 5% of their names per annum. So those names tie up your capital. There are names you can buy in .ca and .com that you can purchase for $200-$500 that you can 5x to 10x your investment on in a reasonable time frame, unless you tie up your capital buying names that other domainers said "Pass" to in the TBR.

I like the names you offered me the other day. Those were wiser purchases and the 3l's have liquidity. They are easy to resell. On a different day I would not have let them get through the TBR, but I am stalking some specific .com's right now and I need a fat wallet.

My best advice is to stop buying the keywords in any extension, listen to the podcasts (DomainSherpa,DomainNameWire),study past sales at NameBio and pool your money so you can pull the trigger on a $500 name. Focus your portfolio and make certain your sales will cover your renewals.

Anyway, the above was only my opinion. There is more than one strategy for buying/selling domains. Good luck to you. You can always PM or phone if you want to bounce some ideas around.

I'm going to suggest you talk to WHC about a discount on renewals. They would be shortsighted not to accomodate a large portfolio like yours.

Another one I have had for a while is HockeyTrades.ca

I did start development on this a while back but have not gotten it ready to go yet. Every year at this time I regret it even more! It is a daunting task, I always wonder what the best way is to get the data that you need cheap (or for free ;) ) ...

Speaking of Data, What does everyone use for domain research?

I would like to find an affordable tool, to search a wide variety of Domain metrix, ie, age, searches, moz, or page rank, backlinks, TF, domain history etc, all in one.

also some tools offer a multi user account, that might be more affordable if a group goes to gether to purchase an account?

ExpiredDomains.net does all of that.
