Oh wow, didn't even notice this thread received some replies, lol. All appreciated.

I was thinking in general... I have some relatives in Canada apparently and stayed away from .CA... but now that I can use their contact information, I figured it might be worth venturing into. Just wanted to get an idea of what others thought.

No ones posted here in a while. Hope this thread doesn't die.

One question. What is TBR? Is it To Be Renewed? Some kind of drop list?

I have owned one .ca for 2.5 yrs that I developed for a service business. Within about 60 days it hit the first Google SERP for my keywords. It has now been at the #1 position for more than a year without updating or DMOZ acceptance.

Has anyone else had these kind of results? Is this common? Is this because its all in English too? Has anyone outranked a .com for SERP position?

Sorry for all the questions,lol. I guess I just want to know more about the extension.

I have hand-regged 10 .ca's this week with "exact" Google keyword tool results of between 18100 - 135000. I honestly don't know what to do with them. Of course they are parked now. I'd like to develop but there is so much competition for these keywords I need to be realistic about my chance of making the top 20 results.

Any advice from the .ca pros is appreciated.

To be released.

Taken directly from the CIRA help page describing the TBR process;

When CIRA releases a cancelled dot-CA domain name, it becomes available for registration. To see the list(s) of domain names that are going to be released, during a registration period that will be held every Wednesday between 14:00 and 15:00 (Eastern time), on a particular release date, click the link below

"To Be Released" Domain Names available 2009/03/11 between 14:00 and 15:00 (EST).

Hope this helps,

Rob

It's very easy to get a .ca to the top of google.ca results - a bit more work is required for google.com. I've got many in the top spot - some with extended listings for multiple keywords so it can be done. Any domain can really but a .ca will give you an advantage on google.ca and especially when selecting "pages from Canada".

As always - the more competition the harder it is. The trick is to key in on the related but less targeted keywords to your new domains while working hard on the highly competitive ones.

Right now is a better time to buy .ca's from others rather than trying to register fresh domains. The best are long gone but with the recession and downturn in the domain biz there are many great deals to be had. Another large Canadian-owned domain forum is the place to find .ca's for sale...

@MasterOfMyDomains
I wish all those domains were mine! Many of those domains listed in the original post didn't sell at that auction. None of the five I listed sold, but I did sell two of them since for more than the reserve I set there!

So exciting this forum.....I never new buying and selling names would be a pain in the ass,what a nusiance.And a thousand different registrars,no wonderr .ca is stagnant.I'm just gonna sit on my good names let the rest expire rather than nickel and dime crap transfers.

What registrars are you using that's making it difficult?

Whole lot of c-c.ca's dropping in less than a dozen hours from now for those interested! Other than that a bit of weak drop this week.

You mean they are usually better than this? :lol:

I am quite happy with the purchases I made today. I expect to make a few beans with ChevyParts dot ca.

The only negative for me was the registrar I was using has a very clunky interface and I had 2 names pulled out of my shopping cart while I was entering my CC info. Lesson learned I guess. :)

Disregarding extension debates, the quality of the actual names is superb.

I think when our big little country hits 50-60 million population this extension will explode in value. For now its buy,develop and hold.

Congrats to all the buyers this week!
