where are you getting less than $9.95 for a .ca?

I doubt GoDaddy can bring lower .ca price to the market as the current .ca price is already less than US$9.95 which is lower than GoDaddy's regular price for any domain extension.

Well netfirms are 9.95 cdn
but I can't find any less than that!
and 9.95 US is 10.03 CDN

Where are you buying them??

Don't forget GST! LOL

Oh right....the GST = Government Stupid Tax I forgot

This is what I pay at my current registrar, namespro.ca

$12.88
GST: $0.64
PST: $0.00
PayPal Service Fee: $0.27
Grand total: $13.79

It's more than another lower priced .ca seller,
but you can't beat the customer service,
these guys are great!

The domain management system is so easy to use,
the checkout system is easy and uncomplicated.

I wonder how Godaddy's will fair up!

Because of CIRA's involvement, I have a feeling it won't
be as smooth.

But I am glad it's happening, makes it easier to keep my
domains between the 2 main ones I use. Especially
for sales and such.

And I do have to say, the .ca has stood it's own ground
in making a name for itself, and I think it's going to help
to open some long closed doors,
A huge big statement of awareness globally for .ca!
:imho:
[insert CDN Flag smiley here]

Netfirm's CAD 9.95 is less than USD 9.95. If you live outside Canada, you may not have to pay GST (5%).

it's a great day for the .ca

Paying in Canadian funds - $9.95 cdn = $9.87201 USD
Paying in USD funds - $9.95 USD = $10.0286 CAD

I don't think there is a chance they will be operating
in Canada without charging the buyer GST.

I believe Pool.com only charge Canadian buyers GST. They operate in Canada too.

At the moment it is only Canadian buyers
who are eligible to buy .ca domains that's why
they only charge Canadian buyers.
Anyone else can buy anything else, and might not have
to pay it. But if your in Canada, then you have to
pay it.

The auction has started! You can view the domains/bids etc. here, but it may be a bit late to sign up for bidding...

It just started so there are no bids yet, but we should see a bunch of sales again this week imo.

More competition for registrations is almost always a good thing, although I wonder if the usual TDNAM drop scooping will be applied to the .ca domains in TBR.

Anyone think that Adam Dicker being on the board at GD had a role to play in this ??

Cheers,

Rob

Transfer Netfirm .ca to Godaddy?

Just wondering if anyone knows how to transfer a .ca from Netfirms to Godaddy in some detail :] . No info on the net!

Should be the same,
Request a transfer at Godaddy and follow the
prompts, they use Netfirms info for the whois.

Log in to your netfirms controlpanel and find your auth info code, then make sure you unlock the domain name. Go to godaddy and do the transfer.

Shoot me a PM if you need more details.

Best place to sell .ca

Just wondering if anyone has an "active"
place to sell .ca's - where you have had success.

I have checked out a few places - but looking for
something that is geared for ccTLD's - specifically, .ca

Thanks :)

.ca's don't have an auth code, just request the transfer at godaddy!

Cheers,

Jay

Id be interested in knowing too, there are a few Canadian specific domain forums I remember looked promising but dont remember which ones.

Most of my .ca domains I plan on holding and developing but have a few that I could sell.

i think that place is yet to evolve,
give another 10 years to see what happens,
sedo is just as good a place as any though, there just isn't enough interest in the .ca

I notice that many businesses in Canada, will opt for a ridiculously long multi word .ca, instead of acquiring a ' better ' name.

I wish I'd remember the name of some travel site I saw advertised on the side of a bus...it was about 4 words strung together.

I notice that allot....at least with small business. That doesn't give me much confidence in selling to small business.

I've also noticed this quite often as well. It might have something to do with that ingrained Canadian nature to be frugal. Businesses will buy good .ca's - you just have to convince them of their worth - ie - direct traffic, seo boost, branding etc.
