Hi Guys,
Will Dot Asia domains be worth anything, in time?
I mean google does'nt even list dot Asian domains... so how is it possible to gain revenue from them, if they cant get traffic?
Maybe there is a way that I don't know about?
Post ur info!
Give Google some time. It usually takes a few months for websites to show up in Google after you've submitted them and .asia is very new. I'm sure they'll get indexed, afterall, I doubt that Google would want to snub the entire continent of .asia by singling out this domain for exclusion.
As to the question will .asia domains be worth anything, I'm sure they will be in the short term. There will probably be lots of people willing to pay top dollar for some of the most frequently used and popular keywords. However, I don't see it holding any promise as a long term investment. In fact, I don't see any other TLD ever becoming as successful as the .com.
We've got around 250 different TLD's right now including, .info, .name, .biz, .pro, all the country codes, .us, .ws, .at, .to, etc., etc.. Yet, more are in the planning. Further with IPV6 technology and internet upgrades thousands of new TLDS's could be released. TLD's for the other continents, TLD's for the major cities, file extensions like .pdf, .gif, .exe, keywords like .travel, .xxx, .realty, .loans and perhaps even TLDs for rich mega corporations like .walmart, .pepsi, etc.. (A person could go broke trying to invest in all the new releases.)
Meanwhile, we have seen time and again, as each new TLD is released, the .com goes up in value. I believe this is true in part because the consequence of introducing a new TLD is that with each new arrival there is less excitement and enthusiasm generated and fewer registrations, making the .com appear to be larger than life. It is one of the first and because it had a large headstart, all the statistics pointing to it will continue to show it as the clear leader and choice domain of "the people".
In conclusion, I believe that .asia holds some short term promises, however, I do not think that .asia or any other TLD, will become as valuable as the .com. Further, I think .asia may lose value because with every new domain introduced, the letter combinations and keywords are duplicated and spread thin, with the same popular words in thousands of peoples hands in a multitude of TLDS.
