Hi Guys,

Will Dot Asia domains be worth anything, in time?

I mean google does'nt even list dot Asian domains... so how is it possible to gain revenue from them, if they cant get traffic?

Maybe there is a way that I don't know about?

Post ur info!

Well, that's not true. There are actually 24,100 .asia sites listed on Google right now.

Google does index them no worries,

The questions is not whether .asia will be worth anything with time. But will 'hand regsitratiions' of .asia be worth anything with time, as that is all that is available if you missed the auctions. My answer to that question is DEFINATELY NOT. I think only meaningful 'one word' generic domain names that 'fit the .asia extension' like a glove will be the only name to have value (examples: travel.asia, discover.asia, market.asia and trade.asia)

I would say have a look at the .eu extention & see how "successful" that extention has been (or lack of success) & then make up your own mind if you would seriously consider spending money on this extention, considering that all the asian countries have their own ccTLDs.

It is worth something, esp to endusers.

What end users? Asian businesses with an Asian identity? Sure, if I would be a company, I would purchase a .asia from a domainer just to confuse my customers with an tld they are not familiar with.

I would say .EU will be stronger than .Asia even in 5 years time, and we should not forget that .EU is not considered a strong extension either.

asia in australia

I wonder how dot asia will take off here in Australia. There appears to be many being purchased by ozzies. Personally i don't like our cctld (dot com.au etc) and they are expensive to register and fairly restrictive in who can reg them. This alone (especially cost) may make the dot asia popular here with the high number of asian tourists visiting our country.

They certainly are popular and i have a dozen or so including walkabout.asia which i think is pretty nice and also constipation.asia which is what i am going to get if the whole dot asia thing is a flop.

I personally think that if you have a few spare dollars to invest in a long term shot at making a profit it is worth the risk. I mean...what else is there?

Enduser , I mean people who like to develop into proper websites.

Example, If you have any good .asia domains like cars.asia , broadband.asia , etc.. I will buy them at good price as I might develop them.

There is LLLLL.com 5 letter.com's which are looking very promising, it's .com it's short, you can make profit on 5 letter.com's today, there are still gems out there you can search for to register and the future looks very bright once some sellouts like cvcvc.com and vcvcv.com happen. Why people say why not invest in .asia because what else is there? Is beyond me

Thanks

I think its too early to make a judgement on that.
Asia is a growing , more liquid market. More people, more small businesses and therefore probably more demand for good generics. But that doesent make .asia successful right away.
I would give it some time. As for now, i'm content with regging 3 generics.

There are 4 Billion people living in Asia. Just imagine all the traffic ASIA domains are going to get.
It was just introduced. Most of the domains are still under the 60 day grace period. I'll develop all of my 16 ASIA domains and sell them in a couple of years.

There are over 6 billion people on earth. Just imagine all the traffic .EARTH domains will get (in the unpleasant situation of the release of such tld).

why are you knocking .asia in all of your posts.. if you wanna hate, wait 2-5 years please. I see nothing wrong in throwing a few bucks at a new TLD. If it fails, so be it. If not, I win a few top auctions and make a few bucks. End of story.
