It's still Sunrise period right now. The landrush period starts on Feb. 20th. You'll know if you get the domain or not only after the landrush period ends on March 12th.

20 February 2008 or shortly after.

Only after the landrush ends in March, you can know for sure whether you are the only one applies for the domain name.

It doesn't matter whether you've pre-registered weeks ago or register on March 12th, if more than one applicant requests the same domain name, that name will enter a closed auction following the landrush period.

Most people will highly regret buying .asia

Asia is too diverse to be represented by a single TLD.

Thanks.

20 February 2008 is enough time to get your preregistered dot asia domain names to be preregistered by other people especially the good one.:(.

you can't get .asia earlier unless you buy during the sunrise period, but...that is reserved for tradename and company name only....anyway, for general / generic names, you can only pre-register for the landrush which is scheduled to be on 20 Feb 2008. If you register under landrush, then you have to wait till Feb 2008 to see if there are any other people submiting similar names, if no, you should get it, if yes, it goes into auction. detail I do not know....

And with goddady, if i loose the auction or i don't participate to the auction, the fee will be refunded if i have understood. I am right?

39.99 $ for xxpoxpo.asia, i loose the auction, 39.99 refunded?

Thx a lot and sorry for my poor english.

In the Domain Faqs:

"When you apply for the domain, we charge you an application fee, if applicable, and the registration fee. If the domain is rejected, we refund the registration fee."

What? They moved the dates AGAIN? I thought landrush was moved (from 15th Jan) to end very early Feb?

@ManuEva - I was only charged the $39.98 for 2 years registration at GoDaddy.

No way. Early Feb is Chinese New Year, nobody at dotAsia will work.

Landrush will kick off after 15-day long Chinese New Year celebrations(Feb 6-Feb 20th).

Sunrise will conclude before Chinese New Year.

I think you are totally wrong! Most of the people from the Chinese community in Asia knows Stephen Chow and his new movie is a hot topic now. Sony Pictures Digital has acquire cj7.asia and it's already live now, you can visit http://www.cj7.asia

In terms of marketing, those which want to position and target the Asia market will realise the value of using .Asia.

I have checked the .Asia official website, the landrush period is from 20th Feb-12th Mac; and the scheduled date to go live is on 26th Mac.

They said that about .eu too. And one odd site does not a TLD success make.

Where are you located lilpooh? If in China - would you use .cn or .com.cn or .asia? If in India .in/.co.in or .asia?

I don't see the value for this TLD, good luck to those who're investing in it... your prerogative to ignore the warnings of people who've been around the block a few times.

Just because some body registered doesn't really mean the extenison will take off. The market demand should be congruent with the extension.

Simple question. When exactly does the .asia registration open for everybody? March 12th?

I'm not going to waste money on the application process. I noticed most companies where charging $100 which was ridiculous.

Value of .asia for good names

So, whats everyones thought on what some of the following will go for through the auction process? I am thinking you might see some go for too much and some for not enough due to the nature of the biding process only being open to those who put down money to register the name, even though they will get it back if they lose the auction. Will the prices be on par for re-sale of similar .eu names?

sex.asia
countryname.asia , e.g. thailand.asia
asia.asia
xxx.asia
LL.asia

I happened to see this recent sale

Extra.Asia - $ 10

It surely is worth more, in other extensions.

.asia i guess would need to take time to take off, but the reigstry seems to b putting quite some effort to make it get notice and hot up,so maybe in a very near future it would prove to b a pretty good ext as well.
