Don't we just love Bonkers? (Snapnames story)

Well, as many of you i have been bidding on couple of domains. In case there is no Bonkers (Bonkerstwo in my case, or some other names with unlimited budget), there is a chance to actually win a name. Tonight i had really bad luck, i prepared myself for the worst, but it was more than that. Two days ago i have placed my inital 60$ bid on Mauthausen.com, this Austrian city "hosted" one of the worst conentration camps during the World War 2. I have had plans to develope it, nearly even started to collect information and photos. Thirty minutes before the auction ended it was at 80$, i had to drive to a friends house in the center of my city to place my last bid/s. Well, i have been placing those... Till 400+$, then i realized there is no need to go further. Another domain in his collection, another that is going to be parked :yell: :'(

Sweet Snapnaming! :)
Do you have any stories with Bonkers or his mates?

He must have one helluva collection by now as he seems to be in most of them somehow ??? I am in 6 right now and he is in 4 of them - I think he will be the new owner of GoProperty.com & Mint.net pretty soon :'(

I've been in a few sweet ones with him like CanoeSports.com, ClaimFunding.com & MediaTone.com ($160) :xf.love: and he gets them for less than $200 cos I can't compete with his BIG FAT WALLET :hehe:

So far I have only ever won one where it was just me and him in it....cos he did'nt bid ! :) I think he may have had his own reason to let me win.

He is by far Snapnames biggest customer from what I have seen in the last two years - never mind, a few shiny gems do slip by him now and again but not often enough.

I should have been doing this seven + years earlier :'(

At least he got shorter by 300$ because of my last minute bids! :D
It is really unbelievable how deep his pocket is, and as you said many times he simply wins the names at a relatively low price, because there is nobody that could keep up with him, so they dont even bid after they see he is the actual winner.

I got it wrong again ;) Mint.net went for $8,155.00 to someone else.

I've been in a bid with just me and him. He placed the initial bid earlier than me but later on i feel that i don't really want that domain. Both of us never place a higher bid so i won a domain which i don't really want lol.

How can someone that spends $180,000 on 1 domain and spends at least over 1/2 million on others be classed as a shill bidder ??

He is obviously very very wealthy and successful in what he does - not a shill bidder.

I wish he did that in alot more of mine :'( I would be a happy chappy :)

Halvarez quiet often places initial bids of $60 but then does'nt bid :) I just got another one tonight where it was just me and him - the last one I got i have received 6 offers so far on it. :tu: I like him :hehe:

What I don't understand is if Bonkers is spending that kind of money on 1 domain, then why is he piddling around with $60-$300 bids.

Because he...

wants to
can afford to
does not want saggyboobs to win
loves competing with aaaaaaaaa
likes to tick you off when you can't beat him
is "bonkers"

They are simply getting most cash out of us. And if we don't pay enough for the names, they simply get them to their own collections. Because buying names with your own money is never ending story. ;)

Bonker (and saggydimes) are "bonkers". Well maybe not :) I gave up on SnapNames about 12 months ago. Primarily because of them. Maybe there is a method in their madness. If they capture all domains then they can charge us whatever they like for those domains:( But I still don't understand the psyche of someone dabbling in $60 and $500,000 domains).

Well... BonkersTwo is on another forum complaining about how everyone just bids him up to cost him money all the time.

I guess people with unlimited funds never stop to think about the personal reasons someone might be trying to buy a domain... a business to be started, history or personal reasons, sentimental value. Nope... Park and prey on others all the while complaining how hard everyone is on him.

Just doesn't seem fair for poor old Bonkers, does it?

you win some and you loose some against bonkers. if you really want a domain youll usually have to pay top dollar for it. i try to steer clear of his focus. ie different niches hes not targeting YET :imho:
