Hey nP members,



we all know that the TLD space has changed completely.

While we can see many creative and great domains made from new TLDs we can see much more really weird and pointless .combinations - means weird and pointless domain name combinations in the .com extension - it often just looks like that 'it must be a .com in every case - no matter how pointless the name combination itself is'.

There are now so many opportunities to 'label' meaningful domain names with a new TLD - I personally recommend .top for the optimum / best 'label' - don't think .com is the future.

I understand what you're saying (kind of), but there is very much a need to have a complete understanding of an investment. Without the data to back up your belief, you're only going on faith.

There are plenty of commercial outcomes that seem like they "should" happen, but don't. Those who went through the 1980's will remember the epic battle of Beta vs. VHS. Beta was smaller, they came out first, and they had the better product... Unfortunately VHS did better marketing and became the dominant supplier of video cassettes. Those who followed the trend and invested in VHS came out rosy, while those who blindly sunk money into Beta (because they "knew" it to be better) didn't do so well.

In the case of .top, I think supplanting the other popular TLDs is too monumental of an undertaking. .Com/.Net/.Org are very established, very trusted, and are still trending upward. The meaning of .top isn't at issue; what's important is what regular users see when they see .top versus .com. And what they see is a TLD they've never heard of, with no major websites using it to give it some credibility.

So what kind of major shift is going to happen to change all this? And why?

My mind tells me that .top will be the new #1 global future TLD because it is named .top and a TLD called .top can't be topped in it's meaning.

It does not mean anything but it is the only pronounceable 63 character domain that consists only of one single character, that I know of.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.aaa is not available for public registration that's why ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.ooo is the best.

Totally agree with what you're saying @kingof.top. Desperate com/binations now? Yep. Will they keep on? Yep. But lets not forget, the old timers have 30+ years on the new guys. It's virtually unfair.

there are still good .com combinations unregistered, I have found several.

Many don't want to be on .bottom and will opt for .top or maybe just .com

Renewals coming up and have to paid. We all hope that 'our extensions' will become successful.

My advice, if any:

A. Invest in .COM and buy some other names in various extensions that REALLY makes sense.
B. Rely on data and actual sales, more than your own believes.
C. Dare to gamble at times, but always with moderation. Always keep B in mind.

There is also xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx - those domains look great but my mind can't agree that this or those domain/s should be the 'better' than my toptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptop.top because my maximum top / .top domain tops them in without any explanation why / in a selfexpalining way

Not blind faith but faith with background.
best.company is better than bestcompany.com etc. and every domain name with .top is / will be better than a domain name with any other TLD
Just because .top means top.
