I'll randomly think of new domain names that I might like to develop while driving, showering, etc (like most everyone else I'm sure). My normal place for searching the availability of the domain name is DomainTools.com (formally whois.sc).

It's been happening a lot more lately that some of the domains I seach for, Domain Tools will say it's available, but then I go to register it, and find out it's been registered for like 4 years.

Where do you feel the best place to search for domain availability is?

I know places like enom, go daddy, etc...but I've read in different forums where people sometimes feel that these registers will monitor what people are searching for, and when a decent domain name is searched for and no registered, they swipe it up. (don't know if that's true or not)

Thanks
