Hard to generalize, IMHO ... but if I had to, I'd shy away from most IMHO.
Of course, some are naturally going to work (and thus be good investments), for instance: www.NameFAQS.com ;)

Enjoy!

As Jeff pointed out, it definitely depends upon the name but if you can come up with subjects that people have questions on, then you have yourself a decent to good name in my book.

I believe that technically FAQ is an acronym for the plural - Frequently Asked Questions, but the question is does the average user know that. I have mainly seen FAQ, but that is an unsceintific impression.

I'm not completely dumb but it took me a while to realize what FAQ stood for.

I think it depends wether your Domain/Site is aimed at Geeks, Techies and Nerds, or The General Public.

I suppose as time goes by, all of todays younger generation who have grown up with computers will understand the acronym.

Personaly I like the word 'Facts' that really covers FAQ.

He's not specifically pointing out what it stands for, but is pointing out that the normal web user may not be aware of the meaning.

As you can tell, I'm not a Geek, Techie or Nerd. Just a plain 'Old' human being who struggles to keep up with all these new terms and acronyms. :-/

In fact even most of the smilies on NamePros are :alien: to me.

If you can't choose between FAQ or FAQS, buy both.

I would say FAQ but if available and the name is good - get both :)

BicycleSpoke.com gets me over 120 uniques a month at sedo however click through rate is Dismal, and very few bicycle domains with bids.

So going back round in a circle, "FAQ" is an acronym... You say you would be dumb not to know... so you are dumb because you dont know the other acronyms?

Purhaps that guy was right to explain to you what FAQs stands for IMHO
