Nordu.net was the first domain ever created, not registered. There is a difference between the two. When the system for allowing actual domain registrations was opened, Symbolics.com was, in fact, the first name ever registered.

I remember it was still very easy to find free premium domains even 10 years later. When i started domaining in 1996/7 i could (should) have stacked a huge bunch of them. But on the other hand, the yearly charges where incredible high compared to today (around 100 bucks and 2 days for trhe papers to register e.g. privat.com and freelancer.de at that time via my webhoster in Germany). Thats why my investments in the beginning could not fullfill my wishlist
