We had a kinda heated thread here,
It got me to thinking...

There is HUGE $$$ in this industry!
Of course with big $, out come your "snakes".
You see people robbing liquor stores for what?
a few hundred dollars???

Has Hollywood caught on to the domain world at all?

I could see some Murder for Hire Movie about a partner
of a domain investment group, or something.

Has Domaining been incorporated into any TV Shows
or Movies as of yet?

If not, They have to catch on to this craze REAL SOON.
don't ya think?

I dont know of any but I would say, there would have to be something....in the works and out by at least the end of the year???

Any thoughts?

.US domains.US domains
IMO the general public has no idea about or interest in domaining and I can't see it as a marketable element in a major movie or book.. I know it'd have to have some spectacular twist to interest me and I can't imagine one.

I agree Dave, most people don't have a clue what domaining is. If a book was written and published. purchased by the major book stores, It would be a shelf sitter.

Wouldn't you consider it very closely related
to the Stock Market?
There has been alot of Stock related media.
Domaining is new and trendy,
and Billions of $$$.
I think if theres not anything out as of yet,
I would assume there will be...?

interesting
thought, but,
Domaining is not
new and trendy,
I have a hard enough time
telling people what I do
without them falling asleep
even with a few drinks in them
I can't imagine any
body actually paying $10+ to
see a movie about
it, even if there was
sex
drugs
and
murder
by the way
is
there
a
reason
you
write
like
this
on
all
of
your
threads
?
It
gets annoying
to
read after a
while
and I actually
think in
my head, "I bet
the post looks
like poetry"
every time I see your
name.
:hi:

Hey Reg,
Thats funny about domaining being boring.

And about your "over exaggerated" poetry question...
I have no idea why I do it.
If it gets annoying, stay away!

Thx for your observant and off topic post!

Most people only know of .com. LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY!

Also most people dont even know what a domain is. They refer to them as "websites" or "a web address".

Somehow I knew you'd get mad.

There's no such thing as an off topic post
in the break room
It's a place to have fun
and make fun of each other

I was simply trying to understand what makes you determine when to hit your "enter" key. Is it a habit, where your pinky just flies out and strikes it at random times? Or do you have a pattern to it.

Maybe we can make a movie about it.

See what I mean, not much to get excited about in the domaining world.

"Man registers Pizza.com years ago, makes millions today."

Gets a little bit of news coverage, and then things that really matter to people knock it out within a couple of days.

Maybe an indie flick? I've got a friend who's a director, maybe he can whip something up for us.

Ok, hopefully I posted enough "on-topic" stuff.

OK,
So maybe it was a foolish question.
I guess with everyone commenting about how boring it would be, there would be no desire at all to see something like this. I guess it will take something bad to happen in real life, before Hollywood would want to mimic it.

Reg, I'm trying to not hit enter before getting all the way to the end now. It's a weird habit. Maybe I SHOULD have been a poet! LOL
Now
you
have
me
all
self
conscious.
kinda
funny
though.
no-one
else does that???
LOL

Now that I gave you a hard time, of course I start seeing other people do it. I can't remember the thread, but someone had this habit of typing "..." after every (half)thought and starting a new line. Strange habits people develop. Just type!

Don't worry about it, just giving you a hard time. And don't worry about starting the topic. Like I said, it was an interesting idea, but you make a good point where it takes something bad to happen before people have reason to care. For example, http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/462891-lh-com-lost.html

Most people don't know what a domain is. But they do know what yahoo.com is. They say.... "Oh you mean a URL?"

I've only run into a few people around here who know what a domain is. It would be an interesting plot for a movie though. ;)

OK,
I think you're right. (I just wanted to hit enter again). wtf?
I think I just like to create some sort of cool designs w/my words,
and paragraphs. LOL

That thread url, that's awful! That is the type of thing to make someone do some very bad things! I believe since there is so much $ involved in this industry, and domains so easily taken with a little computer expertise. It is only a matter of time until we read of some horrible tragedy because of some type of domain criminal act.

Nice happy thoughts, huh?
lol
i'm just saying.

There was actually a few years ago a movie called "feardotcom" if i remember right, (and it was a B or C Movie) :)

And recently there was this movie, dunno remember the name but it was about this Freak who setup a website where you can watch a murder, the more visitors the faster the victim was dying...

Cheers,

Frank

Ya know what,
I remember that movie title, FearDotCom. I have to look that up.

And the second movie you mentioned, I saw previews for THAT one. It looks awesome.
