After Lots and Lots of work, I am proud to present my first significant contribution to the domain business. I present DomainDairy.com !

After a 72 hour (max) BETA, all accounts will be deleted, all bugs fixed and the site released in all its glory.

This site combines from my experience what everyone wants from a portfolio manager, the best bit being the fact it is online.

You simply create an account, and add your domains in bulk. You then click a couple of buttons and ALL your domain data is grabbed. No effort on your part, and it is guaranteed to be 100% correct. Thus you wont lose a domain because you typed in 2008 instead of 2007.

You can organize your domains by putting them in categories, you can order them by registrar, you can see how old all your domains are, and when they expire, as well as much much more.

DomainDairy also will send you an email when any of your domains are near to expiry. We essentially provide you a one stop site whereby you can manage all you domains from one neat control panel (although you cannot actually edit any domain data, that must be done from individual registrars).

The point of this BETA is to find any bugs, and remove them, as well as to get YOUR suggestions on as to how the site can be improved. What other features do you want to see?

So far, Coming Soon....
  • Price Bought, Price Sold, and Value demographics system integrating percentage return etc.
  • Domain Notes: Add Notes to your domains.
  • Contact Us: Contact us directly via the site.
  • Search: An advanced search system to allow searching of your domains.

Oh and by the way, just a small thing.... It is 100000% FREE

Due to lack of interest BETA will be extended, and project discontinued if continued lack of interest. I thought this was quite an excitin system.... :(

Interesting idea. I've lost track of a couple of my domains, one central reservoir would be a handy thing, though people could do most of this offline and gain a little more security. I suppose the trade off is ease of use - you do all the domain data collection for the user - verses privacy/security - domainers may not want an allinclusive list of their domains located on a server somewhere.

Nice idea, though, I think it has merit.

congrats for the nice work clowesy :)
it will get much easier to manage the names

BTW, you could put a .mobi name in the tutorial ;)

Funny name.

The navigation on the site is a bit laborious, for example to go to the next page in the portfolio you need to click on a minuscule number below it. The tutorial does not load for me, is it because I disabled Flash?

If the import file contains a blank line it is added as a blank domain (it says added successfully).
Can we import from a CSV file with all info prepopulated?
Is there a way to assign each domain a purchase price, a selling price, and to export domains to a web page for a showcase or such?

Thanks for the comments so far.
As far as offline being more secure etc, the reason I developed this site was because at college the internet is through a proxy, and thus software cannot connect to the internet.

As for a list of your domains on a central server... the server is very secure and I am the only one who has access to it. All your data is safe trust me :)

Also software doesn't email you when your domains are expiring :) Nor does software allow you to graph values, profits etc, and add notes to your domains (coming tonight).

There isnt a .mobi in the tutorial as the site does not support .mobi domains at the moment. Only .com, .net, .org, .info, .us and .biz. Please list all tlds you would like/need. Please not the way this code works involves querying whois servers and some whois servers are annoyingly difficult to manipulate, hence why extra tlds are not top priority yet.

I will try and improve navigation, sizes etc.

The tutorial is flash, so you will need to enable flash.

Re importing .csv, that is not possible and most likely wont be. I will implement importing .txt lists. The simple fact is it is unecesary as all data is grabbed for you.

Purchase price, selling price and showcase on my list of things to do (high up).

More suggestions appreciated.

you wrote in the first post about the lack of interest... why dont you put it in your sig and explain (in your sig) what this site is for?

Good start.

Sorry, "buggy" is probably not the correct word.

I guess "clumsy" is a better word.

About.php 404

Upon logging into the app, I found that the pie chart already had slices chopped out, giving 96.?% .com, with the remainer split between the rest of the listed TLDs, when no domains were in the system.

Now (with 3 domains, 2 .com and 1.org) here is the breakdown.
.com 96.5%
.net 0.6%,
.org 1.2%
.info 1.2%
.us 0%
.biz 0, 0.6%

I understand the restraints when looking up .org domains, since it is rate limited.

I think you should not write an excuse on the page, stating two separate searches are necessary. I believe that the functionality should be implemented directly into the code.

Keep going on it, you've got a good start. You have a competitor in dnzoom, so you might want to take a look and see what they are doing in terms of personal domain name management.

All the best.

Not a problem guys,
I will look into the bugs people have mentioned, and implement things to make it all run more smoothly.
As for dnzoom, they have been negotiating deals with big registrars, and parking companies. I do not have the funds or knowledge of APIs etc to implement this I believe.
If someone could shed some light on what/how they are doing it that would be great, and I will look into it. Some light competition for them would be a good thing IMO

Thanks guys

Is it Domain D A I R Y? Or Domain D I A R Y? The latter being the one that may make the most sense, imho.

Edit: I checked and found the answer to my question.

Nice initial start. I'd like to see it grab

1) 1st dns server
2) admin contact email address
3) status (translated to locked/unlocked/expired/pending delete)

There are probably many other bells and whistles to add other than grabbing stuff from the whois, but lets deal with the basics first.

Pretty nice, but if we just kept the account details and turn on alerts on allof our purchases right now, we will get email alerts from the registrars.

I thought it was Diary too ! haha

I put LLL.co.uk and it got nothing :(

It is dairy. I thought it was quite cool considering most of the best names are gone, and it is easily brandable.

Updates:
.co.uk now supported (although atm I cannot grab registrar)
.mobi completely supported.
Pie chart no accurate to YOUR domains
Page numbers now all correct for YOUR names I believe.

and... the big one !! Individual domain management page with personal graphing code (tutorial coming soon). If you are feeling adventurous click on a domain in your portfolio manager, and take a look.

More suggestions appreciated and NEEDED.
Thanks
