discuss Domain valuation sites

Interested on peoples opinions re valuation sites, Estibot, free valuator etc. With my limited experience in domains, it seems to me that these sites are generally a waste of time.

On numerous occassions I have sought the valuation estimate of domains on these sites and its strange that one site may give a valuation of $xxxx but another will come up with $0 !?

What they can do though is let you know if the words are actually searched or not.
As far as putting a price in non generic terms well is all what user will pay and how good sales person if seller is.

Never use them as I've sold many domains for thousands that show $0 valuations. Some say they use them for metrics on a domain but in 14 years of selling to end users I've never had an end user ask for any form of statistics. They generally just look at the domain, like it for their project and come and buy it.

Can automate something like a car price guide, year, mileage, condition etc... as many exist or a stock item but can never automate a unique item like domains as only 1 .com exists and pricing will be determined by how much the "right" company is willing to pay combined with the negotiating strength of the domain owner.

They are not the ones writing the check so... Not gonna get a penny more from an end user based on Estibot valuation.
