Domain name question

Ok I'm new here..
I check whois a domain as below;

Status: pendingDelete
Updated Date: 10-feb-2008
Creation Date: 08-dec-1998
Expiration Date: 07-dec-2007

My question is why the domain still pending delete but the expiration date mentioned it already expired.?
What's mean by updated date?

How can I register the domain?

PENDINGDELETE
A domain name is placed in PENDINGDELETE status if it has not been restored during the Redemption Period. A name that is in PENDINGDELETE status will not be included in the zone file. All registrar requests to modify or otherwise update a domain in PENDINGDELETE status will be rejected. A domain name is purged from the registry database a specified number of calendar days after it is placed in PENDINGDELETE status. The current length of this Pending Delete Period is five calendar days.

Is that means that the updated date is the date when the name purged from the registry database? so after after 5 days we can register the domain..?

just use an accurate whois like nwtools.com and see the date.
from time to time see it since 5 days is not too long

And be careful, cause it will probably get catched by snap companies such as snapnames .com, pool .com , namejet .com ,....

So if it's top quality domain name you should reconsider backordering it for better chances of getting it. If none will be interested in auction they will drop it and you will be able to register it. Good luck.

Best way is to backorder it everywhere cause 1 company will most likely capture it for you. So register at all three I wrote and place backorder on domain you want but they will charge you money for that 60$ min. I think but 1 year of registration is also included. If there will be more people backordering your domain it will get in auction and highest bid will get it.
