In June 2020, more than 4.96 million domain names were registered in the whole world. .COM, as usual, was the most popular domain extension with 3.3 million domain names (66.5%).

The number of registered domain names in May 2020 was 4.91 million.

The top 10 keywords of June 2020 are shop, online, home, life, group, store, black, tech, news, and pro.

18 thousand domains that contain the “black” word were registered. Lives, matter, street, life, and protest are the other keywords often used with the “black” keyword.

Has been reporting how many domain names are registered each month,
Can you report how many domain names are deleted after each month expires?

Just 4.91 million domains? I would have guessed like half a billion, that's interesting!

Yes, there's 7 billion people, or, let's say, 1-2 billion were connected to the Internet like 5-10 years ago, I would say. Okay, that's 1.5 billion. Now, with 0.5 billion domains, that means:
    • every 3rd person has 1 registered domain on average
    • every 15th person has 5 registered domains on average
That doesn't sound so unbelievable to me. But I will trust the data above and change my estimates wildly :)

WAIT A MINUTE: Does the data say how many domains were NEWLY registered? Because then I would understand why that's too little! :)

359.8 million is the number I had in mind when I was saying half a billion!

How Many Domain Names are There in All? According to the latest data from Verisign, there were 359.8 million registered domain names at the close of 2019's third quarter. There were 5.1 million more domain name registrations over the previous quarter, marking a 1.4 percent increase.
