Hello NP'ers,
I have a question regarding expiring domain.
I have sold one domain which will be expired on 12/28/2010 in Ebay.com.

The buyer have already pay the domain using Paypal but he did not give me his details for domain push. Therefore, I cannot push the domain to his domain.

My question is, what will happen to the domain if it reach expiration date?

Should I renew first and charge extra for renewal fee to the buyer?

Thanks!

If you will not renew, you will loose the ability of push it.
So wait till 28/12 and if there is the same situation renew it.

Get the buyer's account information before the 28th so you can push him the domain BEFORE it expires. If you do not get the information, they buyer will need to send you the money so you can renew the domain, then you will be able to push it to him.

Thanks for the reply.
Until now, I still don't receive the buyer details.. =__=
Need to wait 1 more days before I renew it.
Maybe I will refund him + negative feedback.

Negative feedback ? The buyer paid you in a timely manner.
I would say it's a bit sneaky to sell a domain that is so close to expiry if you did not disclose the fact... I would have included the renewal in the selling price.

Personally, I think if you didn't state that renewal would be extra, it's you who should foot the renewal fee. It seems like the buyer is playing the same game as you.

No, no, no! The seller is supposed to post the expiration date in almost all cases, but a buyer needs to know what they are buying. If the buyer doesn't bother to check the exp date or where it's registered, the seller should not have all the responsibility.

I assume you posted this information in your ad on Ebay? I don't know why other people assume you did not...

With the holidays here is the US, the buyer may not have gotten your message yet. In my opinion you have two choices:

1) Keep trying to contact the buyer. If the domain expires you should still have at least 2 weeks to renew it if they buyer wants to pay for it.

2) Create an account for the buyer and push the domain to the account. SEND the new account information to the buyer so they can access the account and their domain when they are ready. Then they can renew it.

I recommend the first option. If the buyer paid and now does not want the domain then you will still have it if you want and once the buyer confirms they have changed their mind you can sell it again. If you want to give them a refund that is up to you and would be nice, but I don't think it is required since the buyer comitted to the purchase. :)

I think a negative feedback is not appropriate, right?
Therefore, I will wait him with a positive thinking. :)
