Can anyone explain me the following:

Domain Name:MYDOMAINNAME.ORG

Last Updated On:30-Jan-2006 10:55:17 UTC
Expiration Date:20-Dec-2006 07:42:47 UTC
Sponsoring Registrar:Tucows Inc. (R11-LROR)
Status:PENDING DELETE RESTORABLE
Status:HOLD

Hm...

Thank you.

It means that the said domain has expired and was not renewed within the 40 days after the expiration date. It then has been deleted. The Registry will hold the domain in the Status:PENDING DELETE RESTORABLE for 30 days.

However the owner can still recover the domain in this state, by paying the restoration fee.. How much??? $75.. $100.. $500 depending on the registrar.

Goodluck

Something doesn't look right.

An expired domain will be autorenewed by the Registry for 1 year and bill the
sponsoring registrar accordingly for it. But the Registry will refund the registrar
once the latter requests deletion of the record.

Chances are the domain name was deleted early on because it violated any
term of that registrar's service agreement. Invalid WHOIS, spam reports, only
the registrar knows why.

Unfortunately that registrar won't tell anyone except any of the listed contact
of the domain name that time.

Thank you, Dave!

Hm... I think I need to share the domainname here: vancouver2010.org

It's obvious WHO insisted on early termination... :)

The expiry date in whois should rather be described as 'sponsored until' date. It is sometimes different than the actual date. Yes it is misleading...
To get the whole picture you should compare the registrar record with the zone files at registry level.
Also, if a name is no longer wanted for whatever reason the owner can ask the registrar to delete the name at once. It does not have to go through the pending-delete process which is a safety measure to protect against the accidental loss of a name upon expiry.

Vancouver2010 has been stolen by IOC and possibly locked.
The com was registered last year by a local, and the Olympic Mafia filed on it.They of course won. Google the name and you'll find lots of stories on this.
Peace,
Cyberian

Thank you, Cyberian!

Have googled vancouver2010.com and, unfortunately, all I've found were some olympic propaganda links... :(

Thank you anyway!!!

I just Googled it and the first result was:

http://www.vancouver2010.com/en/Org...tre/NewsReleases/2006/01/18/92_0601181224-202 ;)

The Olympic Committee will go after anyone and everyone who uses the brand, so the ones who go out registering Olympic names are pretty ignorant to say the least...

Thank you, Chris!

However, I don't see anything strictly olympic in those names, to say the least... I am sure that winter games will not be the only event in Vancouver in 2010 and IOC cannot monopolise the brand vancouver2010.

My 2c.

I just picked up vancouver2010.org and want to sell it.. Any suggestions for a price. I will fight the IOC if they want to try to take it from me.
