Domain Cost Club

They're offering domain registrations, transfers and renewals at cost. But there is a yearly membership fee - sort of like GoDaddy's Domain Discount Club. They also have a Lifetime membership at a single payment of $499.

I guess it would be worthwhile for domainers that buy a lot of domains.

What do you guys think?

They won't last to long, look around you. How many other services in the market work like that and last long? None that I can think of, I don't think domain renewals will be the only exception out there that actually are in it for the long run.

It's different because Godaddy still earn money at those rates.

Anyone here using DomainCostClub? Would like to hear some feedback.

Any reviews of this place? For, say, 1500 domains - $99. per year for unlimited domains , 7.85 +.18 ICANN for a dotcom, comes to about 8.10 per domain which is not bad.

Sounds like 1&1 with the trick fees to move domains :xf.laugh:

If the end cost for 1500 domains is 8.10 per .com then all Iโ€™d ask is - how is the service?

Thatโ€™s one of those threads where the OP comes along with his incessant

Bump

posts which is highly annoying. Would rather stay in this thread.

Be careful everyone, around 30% of their traffic comes from Russia, way too high risk for way to low reward if you ask me.

Sounds interesting. If I was just starting out I might consider this -- it just comes down to whether you make back more than the "Club Fees" in savings per domain (new registrations, transfers, and renewals). And also if the interface works well and there's no issues with transfers and such.

I currently use GoDaddy's Domain Discount Club -- I make it back in savings for annual renewals (so it makes sense for me). I also like the domain management interface, and some of the other services from GD. I Just wish they offered free privacy (but I heard rumors of changes to the WHOIS policy across all registrars, so that could be a positive development). I will say this -- if GD offered a $499 Lifetime Membership, I would probably do it...

Regards,
DN

Got it @xynames : wink :

Quoting myself and to be clear, this is my opinion/evaluation not a review, based on the below it is not a service that would interest me : smile :

If you are interested at least use the NamePros referral link : thumbs up :

https://www.namepros.com/posts/6662214/

COM price is $8.03 once you add in ICANN fee

Then add the Membership Fees
Lite - $10/5 domains => + $2 per domain - Actual Cost $10.03
Basic - $30/19 domains => +$1.58 per domain - Actual Cost $9.61
Plus - $50/49 domains => +$1.02 per domain - Actual Cost $9.05
Unlimited - $100/unlimited - To break even, use Epik $8.49 as the standard which at $0.46 per domain would make the Break Even point 217 domains

Keep in mind you can get $8.03 at NameBright IF you pre-fund with Wire Transfer or Postal Mail a paper check and $8.10 at Epik with pre-fund by Wire, counter deposit or pay with bitcoin or masterbucks. That makes the YEARLY Break Even point infinity for NameBright and 1428 domains for Epik : grin :

Some things that caught my eye:
All domains are subject to a mandatory $0.18 ICANN fee per year, except for those with any of the following extensions: .ac, .bz, .cc, .co, .fm, .in, .io, .me, .nl, .pw, .sh, .st, .tv, .ws

From TOS - https://www.domaincostclub.com/files/docs/DCC - Terms of Service.pdf
Registrant agrees that transfer of a domain name away from DCC to another registration service provider may be subject to an administrative transfer fee determined in the sole discretion of DCC.

The parent company is GDI - which is the WS guys. Back in the GDI days many MLMers bugged me about it so that is a personal annoyance factor.

Personally, to use a registrar for hundreds of domains, would have to see the control panel and how they handle bulk functions, there is little if any info or screenshots anywhere. OK was able to sign up WITHOUT purchasing anything, when it got to that screen, just went to My Account instead. It looks like a tweaked WHMCS. It appears to have bulk functions including exporting domain list and bulk auth codes.

Thanks!

Some are saying they charge or reserve the right to charge to transfer out the domains when that time comes.

I'm thinking of moving some names over to DDC.

@xynames who is talking about the transfer out being difficult?

Does anyone else who has used this service have any good/bad feedback?
