.US domains.US domains
if you are paying for it, get it for free here. it is probably better. just state that it is for an end user.
if he is paying (which he should, otherwise be careful for scams) direct him to any specialized domain appraisal site. It'll work for you, as most of this sites (there are too many to mention) over appraise.

Now, be careful about THIS:
and this is from experience.
Never, NEVER direct your buyer to any place for an appraisal were he might find another suitable domain.
in other words DO NOT direct him to Sedo, afternic or even Godaddy for an appraisal.
you want him to stay focused on your domain, and not give him/her the opportunity to search for other domains by directing him/her to a domain listing place.
hope this helps and good luck.

I agree. Start here at NamePros. You will get a pretty good idea of what your domain is worth. However, you should note that dozens of appraisals are posted every day and some have very few responses. You would be wise to give incentives to people for appraising your domains--it will get you more responses.

Hmm,
Yeah diverting your client to other places will be like dropping the hammer on your own foot. As fonzie said it is great to start off at Namepros

Yeah, if someone (a prospective buyer) is asking you to get an appraisal at a particular site, there is a good chance it is a scam.

Sounds VERY much like a SCAM - be careful

I advise you to show the email here because chances are someone has seen very similar scam attemps.

The general rule is DO NOT PAY for an appraisal if someone asks you too !!! You are unlikely to hear from them again and they've made money on commision.

It was smart of you to post here and ask for opinion... I was scammed for $120 someone asking me to appraise domains before he bought it.

guys, I am not saying this isnt a scam, however, I have had many serious buyers ask for appraisals.
Of course, they always paid for them, but I did point them in the right direction.
Do not assume it is a scam if someone asks for an appraisal.

if someone else want to pay for the total appraisal, then go for it. Sometimes, the smart scammer asks you to pay only 20% of the appraisal, that is when you know you are scammed.

True :guilty: I am a bit quick to "presume". But if you notice it's usually from people with a very low amount of posts. I think they watch and then pounce on the unsuspecting ! I don't like to see this happen. >:(

i'll say get the appraisal here, the best place ... you'll get some unprofessional appraisals but there are quite a few good appraisers in Namepros

Self appraise it. Compare your domain to similar ones that sold for money and see approxiametly the worth.

I would always assume when someone asks for an appraisal that it is a scam! Only if they offer to pay for the appraisal (as you stated above), would I even consider to deal with someone who asked for an appraisal. Even then, I would have serious doubts. How do you know he isn't having a friend with domain knowledge appraise it with a lowball figure? I would only accept his appraisal if it was done by a well known domain company like www.Sedo.com, or www.Afternic.com . But then again, he could even have friends there!!! :guilty: . Stick to Namepros! Of course, IMHO.
