Hi,

New to this, even though I own a few domains. Why do people list the age of the domain? (e.g. 12 Years Old)

Is that from the last time anything was developed on it?

Hello (and welcome on NP),

Most of the time, it's the age of the domain (year it was last registered, with no drop)
Once a domain drops (pending delete, then deletion), if you register the domain again, his age is lost.
It simply corresponds to the registration year displayed in RDAP/whois :)

Hope it helps,
Gube

Thanks Gube for taking the time to reply, I was just wondering why that's relevant to the buyer? I might be missing something here?

It was already discussed on the forum;
But here are the main points to remember :
An aged domain that never dropped doesn't have more value than a new one
Except if :
- The domain in question has backlinks, domain authority
- Chances of the domain being better than a new reg (due to the domain market, there was more "high quality" domains available back then, and so these might be better than the average hand reg nowadays)
