Domain Age/Flippa

I noticed Flippa advertises the domain age as when I purchased the domain. Is the true domain age when it was first ever registered? I have some that I have purchased that are 5-13 years old (some were active websites at one time and have DA/PA and links).

When a name drops, the age resets. And then it starts from when it is registered again. I hope that helps.
