Does the domain Registrar affect whether you buy a domain or not?

I know some registrars are unpopular on here. I have a good name, but it's at one of those registrars. It costs $20 to renew. But couldn't you just transfer it to a place like Godaddy and pay $8.99 for the transfer, and get a free year? Of course I'm talking about selling a domain on this website. Does it affect whether you buy it or not?

It does to some extent. But in general, buyers prefer to transfer domains out to their preferred registrar on purchase of domains. The likelihood of selling a domain _might_ be slightly higher at a more preferred registrar.

The good registrars are also integrated with Afternic's Premium Distribution and Sedo's Premium distribution. This feature displays aftermarket domains for sale in the domain registration path itself which increases visibility of the domain to high intent potential buyers
