Can you use the word "porn" in the domain name of a non-adult website and not get red flagged by search engines and email servers? Example watchporn.com (if it was about watches) or pizzaporn.com (if it was about pizza recipes). Would it get automatically banned by universities, workplaces, libraries and such? Cheers.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I'd be of the opinion that saying watch porn and seeing it written down have two different interactions with the brain. One is acceptable and the other is not. I am sure that there are other domain names which contain the word but have nothing to do with adult entertainment.

Me, I would steer clear. I think that certain words or phrases could not be listed on Afternic. Not sure about GD.

Depends on the network administrator. There are clever filters possible but if you want a 'suitable for work' filter it's better to be safe than sorry.

It's hard to keep up with all fetishes people seem to develop these days :)

I hadn't thought about that. Would the marketplaces accept "porn" in the name? is a good question.

You can list adult domains. Don't push it to sick stuff. They will remove that if it gets noticed/reported.

I don't dabble in the niche but know people who do. As long as it doesn't imply anything illegal you should be good.

Adult domains:

Sedo: yes, but you may not always use their SedoMLS promotion, or list on Sedo's homepage.
Afternic: yes, but you may not always use their premium promotion options.
DAN: yes.

Porn is porn no matter how you try and wrap it up......no normal business is going to let "porn" slip through.....

The use of the word in any combination just means someone has a desire for that type....

Nice try though 😉

I would say Google Pizza Porn....but.........

I bit.

Google Example #1: "hide explicit results"

Google Example #2: "show explicit results"

= a lot of explicitly sausage pizzas

+ a few women out there trying to #MakePizzaGreatAgain

Below is an archived cached version of PizzaPorn.org <shopify store> of pizza (non adult related) items previously offered for sale.

Just wondering if these American, Polish, German, Brazilian, Italian and Russian websites (some of which are restaurants) get red flags through using the word "porn" in their domain name? Seems like a cool word to use in a food recipe website. All opinions welcomed with open arms. Cheers.

I'm thinking to create a pizza porn recipe website. Users find an insanely sexy looking pizza on the site and there's a video with instructions. Ads can be anything pizza related. Domain name needs "pizza" and "porn" in it. But not sure whether "porn" is red flagged. If it is I could use "pawn" or "poorn" or "pourn" something like that to avoid the adult filters. There's not much in the way of answers on google that's why I posted the thread. If in doubt ask the experts. You are the experts.

Be sure to secure the domain name first.

Update: Due to compulsion, I had to do it. I googled "pizza porn"

...interesting, I'll leave it as that

"pizza porn" gets 4400 monthly visitors from U.S. and A. but sadly zero cost per click.

I have a book called "Cabin Porn". It just has pictures of unique cabins and locations.

"Porn" is not something I would ever consider using in a brand personally. It might be edgy, but it is not professional and will turn a lot of people off.

@bmugford True

People can see the word porn in two ways ...relating to sexual content or other sexual content (a quirk, just sexy), in a sense of aesthetically pleasing stuff, like Cabin Porn (interior / exterior cabin designs, idyllic scenery, other)

Unless you have been living in a monastery in Tibet for 50 odd years then Porn only means one thing....people can try and wrap it up how they want but go and ask 1,000 people (or more) what Porn means to them and I'm sure 99% will give you interesting sex related answers - the other 1% will tell you of their disappointment about the Cabin Porn book not living up to expectations......

I wonder how many people bought @bmugford book on impulse thinking it was about something else before it started gathering dust on the shelf.......
