Hi all,

I have couple of domains for which I plan to design custom landing pages with a lead gen form. I was wondering if this is the 'only' thing I should do at this point to expect inquiries. OR is there any other way I can get interested buyers to my on sale domain names?

I am using self-hosted custom designed landing pages of my own (no parking sort of landing pages).

There is no need to be tech savvy and design a sales template.
If you want to stay clear of parking pages, you can find and buy Sales templates and scripts on themeforest.net.
You can search: "domain for sale" and find many options.
I'm not affiliated with this site in any way, that's what I would do if I owned a premium domain which requires special treatment.
Though if your domains are not very good, parking pages with buy link will be more than enough.
Also, that way you can earn some income.

Good luck :)

Most inquiries come direct from the parked page so yes doing a sales based page over a parking page generally leads to more inquiries assuming the domains have some form of quality as there is no way to miss that the domain is for sale. Do your own sales pages and listing them at...

GoDaddy
Sedo
DomainNameSales
etc...

doesn't hurt as well as ya never know where the right buyer will find it.

Do you think having email for contact is enough or is php form + captcha better?
(BTW - anyone has a link to some easy to install/small form script?)

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts.

@Sheogorath, I have designed a simple 'Domain For Sale' landing page with a form and I find it easy to customize for every domain I'll be using it for, nothing techie at all as I know a litltle CSS/HTML myself.

Regarding your point where you mentioned 'parking domains', which parking platform would you recommend?

@SpareDomains, I have listed my domains to Afternic and SEDO but unfortunately I have yet to be successful in getting a DNS account (as I have been rejected three times for the same two reasons they usually pitch in their automated email.)

I'm using Sedo parking with "Sales crush" template which has a better focus on promoting a sale(bigger link and supporting certificate sentences).
By using this template there are fewer advertisements.
Furthermore, by using a popular venue to display and sell your domain/s, the buyer will feel safer in going through with the transaction.

Parking a good domain is fine if the parking template has a clear sign of "This domain is for Sale" etc.
However, custom templates and hosting is fine as well, if you want to focus on just selling the domain/s.
If you have a very valuable domain, like LLL.com or something like game.com, custom template and hosting is the only way to go since it will protect you from UDRP(no parking links will be displayed).

Thanks for all your replies mates. But my actual question was whether I should do anything after making lading pages (Domain For Sale) for my on sale domains? I mean would you suggest anything that could bring in inquiries from the buyers?

I don't own premium domains, few keyword rich and couple of brandables. So I was wondering what are the steps after setting up landing pages on my domains on sale.

Best,
