Sorry about my noob question here but I really dont know much about search Engine ranking and optimization.

Hopefully this is a simple question for the SEO Pros out there.

Ok so you have many articles, and many pages, etc.
You have an article rank very well.
Now you have another article to add, and your newest article goes on top of your page, which kicks the already ranked article down a notch on your site.

Does that new move, hurt your search ranking for your previous article...

Thanks,
Vito

Individual post ranking well?

If the individual post is the article that is showing up in the SERPs new content bumping the article of the front page won't harm your ranking. Just look at all those ezinearticles that rank well for some terms.

Assuming that the ranking is coming from your articles permalink (see below)

Yes, the position of hosting the site may affect visibility in some countries, but the Google Webmaster Tools allows you to set the site of the country, so you do not see things in a SERP of Google Local. Of course, this is the only search engine, Google is not better when you can organize your destination country to improve users access time, too.
