Does anyone make a lot of money off of redirected traffic?

I am totally new to the domaining business.
I see there are domains are for sale on places like GoDaddy Auctions with OK Alexa Rank numbers.
From everything I can see: Links, FaceBook Pages, YouTube Channels, etc.
It looks like these sites have real links and are probably getting some traffic.

I just bought a few and am waiting for them to clear so I can test them out.

I am fascinated with the idea of buying up a bunch of sites in a few select niches and redirecting them all to either one site with a few sections. Or a few vertical sites for different industries.
Not for SEO, just for the traffic.

I envision there are a lot of pitfalls. (traffic may not be what you expect, traffic may evaporate, etc)
But it seems like it could be a viable business.

Has anyone here done this successfully?
What kind of money can you make doing this?

not worth the time. you will blow a ton of money and see little to no return.

A LOT of the traffic reported is image hits, bots and other garbage. Very little of any value.

You cannot use redirected traffic with the parking companies.

If the traffic is targeted, you can actually build an audience with it. I would care about domains sending untargeted traffic.

Intriguing question, I'm also interested in knowing this answer. I picked up a LLLLL.com from yesterdays drops with an existing Alexa ranking based off LL-LLL.com being developed. LL-LLL.com is a chinese forum, so I'm assuming it will reach a chinese audience. Idk if its more valueable to try and sell it to the LL-LLL.com owner, park it, redirect it, or find other endusers in the keyword niche.

Do a sample testing. i.e; buy a couple of them with low investment and test them out. At the end of it, you will know whether to pursue it or drop it.
