Does your alexa rating really matter?
Also, how do you get a better rating on alexa.

not really.

It is usefull for helping you gather an idea as to your general place in your segment if your honest withyouself and dont do anything to your stats to artificially inflate it and if your looking for a place to advertise on, it can help you see (somewhat) if their claims of traffic are true or a complete lie.. but it is not perfect.

It should be just one tool you use to determine overall online status of websites

totally useless tool... except when selling domains. sounds more impressive, i reckon.

sometimes I will take a look if a seller tries to tell me he is getting 50K uniques a day. I generally can tell if a site has real traffic or a phony.
I think the alexa ranking is more useful in the lower range (1-15K).

Such as Namepros it obviously is getting traffic and the ranking is a bonus
if RJ was to put it on the market or from a advertising perspective.
