Is ALEXA pointless?.

I have a website ranked 688.440 with alexa dot com? The site's index page gets a dozen or so uniques a day so how does it have that ranking.

It seems to me that alexa has lost the plot on its rankings.
What do you think.

it is just that alexa rankings can be easily manipulated, so you need to check out other stats as well.

There are programs out there that can raise your rank there. I dont trust them anymore.

Alexa shouldn't be relied on too much .... Some of the things it shows and links to can still be useful (Wayback Machine ,Sites a domain may or may not have been linked to) - But it definitely shouldn't be much of a determining factor when Appraising or Deciding to buy a domain .....
