hello.

I am about 35 now and have seen a bit of the internet (much less than most marketers here probably). I have to admit in my mind .com or .co.uk always are the top things to own, when i see these .live or .wtf they really look like shit to my eyes. I understnad that they are valid and that you can make money from them.

But to me making a business "Mybusiness.com" is a completely different thing from "Mybusiness.management". Maybe im old fashioned or something.

can experts here let me know if its just a "look" thing or its a legitimate point of view? thanks

@John_Figueiroa - Depends on the name or nature of the business. A domain business could work quite well from domain.business or "myname".domains. Probably not the best examples, but at least something you can relate to.

It would be MyBuisness.com vs My.Buisness ;)

imo, My.Buisness is much better visually but .com still has the recognition these days. In 15 years we'll see.

No, they've always looked like run on sentences to me, not urls for businesses. Or some spam I get sometimes where they forget to put a space between the words. It's why I think businesses should avoid them as well.

At this point in time you are correct.

The new tld's are still too new and the jury is still out on them.

Stick with dot coms for now, but keep an eye on the ntld's to see if they gain traction in the future

I personally think that one word + ngtld domains look pretty sexy, as long as they make sense. One word .com names look even more sexy. Have not yet decided if a two word .com looks better than keyword.keyword. The only thing for sure there is the ngtld version is 3 letters shorter, and I do like shawties!

cool

i always thought they were too new to invest in, but then i see lists on sedo and they go for quite a lot of money (some of them anyway)

but im glad some people find them horrible to look at, like spam lol

i actually do like how some of them look. It just seems like what people are putting on the left of the dot looks worse than the extensions..
