I still don't understand how to monetize my domains. Do I have to have a blog for it to be found thru search engines? Or can I make a static landing page?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

As long as you have a page/website up with useful information and not copied you will get indexed but it does not happen over night and you will have to work at it. You also have to put adsense or another ad program to get money from click.

You don't need a blog.

Any website can get indexed, but to increase your chances you'll want to do things like build links to it and submit it to search engines.

as for monetisisng, you need to either ad an Adsense banner or other form of paid advertising.

Good advice, but you can also use a parkeing service if you have many domains. If you have just a few, creating a site or blog may work better to generate income. If you make a nice site you should be able to sell the domain and site together for more than just the domain itself, but it will depend on the buyer.

You don't need a blog - but utilizing Wordpress might actually be a great idea for your domains. Create a blog with 10 unique articles, and start building backlinks to it.

Do NOT submit your site to search engines - part of Google's algorithm will rank you higher if their bot finds you because of good content not because you submitted your site.

Lynn Terry recently posted a great guide for getting started making money online. I think that you'd be well served to follow it to monetize your domains. It's a free blog post that you can check out.

Submit to search engines. Skip Google if you want to, but I have not seen any proof that submitting to them hurts anything. You don't have to submit to any search engine if they spider sites because they will find you at some point if there are any links pointing to your site.

You DO have to submit to any search engine that only spiders your site if you submit to them, and also to directories that do not spider at all.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I used my host's one-click install service to put WordPress on all of the domains. Do you happen to know if using a free theme detracts from SEO value? Also, between the last two commenters - should I submit to Google or just build inbound links and let my site be found?

As mentioned above just create some good unique articles on wordpress bases theme and get quality backlinks from well established sites. That will do.

You don't have to have a blog, but it's no secret that Google likes fresh content.
