Hi

I recently contacted Nintendo as to see whether they would be interested in

nintendogs.jp

I recieved a email back from them as below

Dear Kerr,

We refer to your email of September 26, 2005 in which you offered to us
the domain nintendogs.jp.

We would be willing to reimburse you for your domain name registration
costs (up to $100.00) upon successful transfer of the domain name to
Nintendo. Please let us know when the transfer is complete, or if you
need any information from us to complete the transfer.

Thank you for contacting Nintendo.

Best Regards,

Nintendo - IP Legal

Now i am thinking do i ask for more money on this domain ?

Thanks

Kerr

Theyโ€™re being very generous in offering you the registration fee. Probably because they donโ€™t want to pay the cost to file a WIPO but make no mistake about it, with โ€œNintendoโ€ in the name you will lose this before the panel if you do not accept their offer.

Best wishes,
Kimmy

They are saying upto $100.00 that doesn't mean you'll get it but good luck.

Yes I agree, I have emailed them back and await their response, I have nothing to loose so i will see what they can offer

:)

im not sure what inspired you to try an sell a trademarked domain back to the trademark owner. They were offering to cover the cost of transfering the domain, which was pretty generous if you ask me. I would expect their next response won't be so generous.

I cant believe you would actually contact a TM holder and offer to sell them their name. If I was Nintendo I'd simply send you a C&D and be done with it. You already showed bad faith in registering this domain.

True but moreover, "intent" to profit from the trademark holder themselves and now they have electronic proof but this shouldnโ€™t scare anyone. It can/will go away very quickly as long as they have the transfer and Iโ€™m guessing a signed agreement to never again use their trademark or any โ€œconfusingly similarโ€ names in the future.

Best wishes,
Kimmy

Really?

Wow, they gave you permission to use the name. Thatโ€™s an unusual occurrence indeed.

Yes as other people have stated, its not an offer, rather a way for them to avoid paperwork.

My questiobn though, after recieving the green light to use the domain [Which is great!], why did you contact them again?

At least they are willing to buy back the domain at US$100...
SEGA will just ask you to give the domain back or they will file C&D against you...

take the 100$ and walk away with the name and dont register any other name with TM issues ...

if they want they can just take the name from you and sue you ... so just take 100$ my friend.

They are NOT offering $100! They are offering to reimburse you for the registration cost UP TO $100. If the registration cost was $8.95, you'll get $8.95.
