Do companys usually respond to emails to their email address in the whois? I am really curiou s.:?

Nope. An answer to an inquiry falls into the minority. In fact for the desirable domains - most emails bounce!

How does it bounce? What ways are effective for contacting them regarding a domain you have?

Bounce - the email address no longer exists

For a better rate of return - I recommend writing an elaborate inquiry instead of a three line letter.

btw - This is meant for buying not selling...

To answer your sales question. I think many will agree they have had no success in approaching potential buyers out of the blue.
