DN.TV will be dropping in a few hours. Before I go chasing it & putting in all my efforts, does anyone know if a LL.TV drops?

I've been warned of weird fees upwards to $500 for some 1 word & short .TV domains.

Would this fee apply to DN.TV?

Regardless, I am going to chase it & see what happens. Hope I get lucky!

This name will probably drop and then be repriced by enom to 10,000. The $500 premium would be the best case scenerio.

Good Luck.

Likely resellable up for $500 per year renewal. Above that it becomes very high risk.

At the moment renewal is at $4500 and maybe its a good reason to drop, if this happens DM will reprice it for sure and my prediction is that the new renewal fee would be around $10000-$15000 per year.

If you want this domain you must contact current owner, dont wait to catch it just after it drops because you cant beat DM.

At $4.5k I wouldn't touch this name. It's true that once dropped it will probably be repriced even higher! :td:

Not surprisingly, some five hours after it dropped, it's still available at $4,500 per year Premium.

Shame really, because DN would be a beauty for DomainName.tv

Although the $4,500 renewal was hefty, I did chase DN.TV - but it never dropped. Looks like ENOM dropped & quickly picked it up, or didn't release it as - the creation dates do look like it dropped / but ENOM is still the registrar.

Let's say, if the domain had dropped. Would I have paid the $25 or $30 registration fee for the first year & I'd be looking at $4,500 to renew it a year later?

How does this premium fee work? Would I have been hit with the fee at time of registration?

Can someone explain who or what DM is? Is DM run by Verisign?

Thanks for the helpful advice everyone, I appreciate it!

Expron, premium domains do not drop back into the regular system at normal reg fee. As soon as it drops it is still only available as a premium and cannot be caught with any API dropcatcher and can only be purchased through Enom. The way the premium system works regarding reg is different. Once you have decided to purchase you are re-directed to another web page which shows the premium price of the domain. You then have to confirm the purchase and enter credit-card details. If your CC details are already in the system you have to confirm with the 3# security code.

Len, what if a premium .TV domain wasn't purchased at ENOM? Let's say it was purchased at Dynadot & let expire. Does ENOM somehow manage to jump into the picture & set the domain to premium pricing?

No other registrar is allowed to sell or register a premium other than Enom.
It would be impossible for your scenario to exsist.

Thanks for the clarification. I appreciate your help in clearing this up..

The .TV TLD sure has a funky premium system setup :D

That's not to say there are no domains out there that should be premium but are not.
There are some that slipped through the net in the past which were reg'd at other registrar's and therefore stayed at normal reg fee because Enom couldn't re-price them as they didn't have control of them.
