Disscussion time:
Slow Summer days, any sales?
Currently I am in a lull. I have been buying and selling domains since late 2005. When I started buying .Tv domains in October last year I had no idea how involved I would become. :hehe: I bet most of you are thinking the same thing. When I started frequenting the .tv subforum there were only a few staple members holding it together. As of now, it has grown immensely, mostly I enjoy the members here.
I try to refrain from commenting on ridiculous threads, I do my best to make it an inviting environment for newbies and others to join. In keeping with such, I wanted to give a little advice to those other folks in a funk, newbies and non newbies alike. I just read Local Experts thread about biulding a business, it inspired this thread in some regards. Many of the newer members here are having a hard time finding a business model that will sell their .TV names. As a result they shortchange themselves by selling too cheap and too early. I have learned that you have to believe in yourself no matter what business you are in. Success is not an overnight thing 99.9% of the time. My business is photography. I have been a photographer for about 4 years now. No clients, no funding, no equipment. I had to start from scratch. Even now it can be a major struggle. But you can't drown, you can't afford to sit in self pity and wallow. How is that going to get you your next sale, your next customer... Some months I make what seems to be a small fortune, and then nothing the next. You have to be confident in yourself and MAKE IT HAPPEN no matter the cost. Domains are no different. It can take years to learn how to buy the right names, it can also take years to sell them. If you were hoping to make a quick killing because .tv is hot! Think again, it can be a long haul. After 4 years of pushing my photography I am finally getting the rates and jobs I deserve. It can still get alot better!
Dont give up if you can't sell your names right away, remember why you bought it in the first place and make it happen!
Whats going on with everyones portfolio?
In 2007 I have Sold more domains and made more money from domains than ever before, but As of late i have not Sold too many mid $XXX names nor have I had too many decent offers recently. Lately I have taken my names off the market as low end sales at forums are getting lazier and less frequent. I dont believe this is an indicator of the .TV market, in fact I believe the opposite. I think .TV is going to continue to shoot upwards for the next 2.5 years through 2009. There will be their peaks and valleys, I sell during peaks and buy during valleys. IMO, right now we are in a mini valley for forum to forum sales. So I have been buying like a mad man and building my portfolio even further. I have been buying aftermarket, expired auctions and registering available names. Mostly one word domains. So far over 35 names have been added to my roster and I look forward to making some nice sales! Im not sure down the road how I will market my names. I may eventually be interested in just selling it as a whole to one buyer for $XXXXX. It all just depends how the market plays out. If it plays out anything like .info I should hold and part them out at $XXXX each
(my favorite scenario)
I know alot of folks here have hundreds if not a few thousand .TVs. There are some truely great names floating out there.
What is everyone planning? Do you even have a plan?
If you don't mind sharing then post!
I want to wish everyone here the best of luck!
