Yes, I really like premium word + suffix that are easy to pronounce and spell.

True. And for me those are relatively easy to formulate once a person learns the trends. I've had a ton of them accepted. But, truth and reality is that they don't sell as much as keyword+keyword domains, which, btw are much harder to get accepted. So, no surprise to me that some of my keyword + keyword domains were rejected. Thankfully, I had some that were also accepted.

Look though the Namepros 'buying' threads at the brandable domains. Everybody and their mama (this is a figure of speech. No offense.) are selling accepted keyword+suffix domains. Now look at DNBolt's list of sales. Keyword+Keyword domains are selling much more than keyword+suffix. So there is a disconnect.

I think people tend to hold onto their KeywordKeyword's more. Or maybe the flippers just don't have many to sell.

I had SignalPlan rejected today. Doesn't that seem like such a BB name? I bought it in the Name.com $0.99 sale last week.

BTW is that really true that KeywordKeyword's are selling "much" faster than Keyword+suffix? I lump the two together as simply "keyword" so I don't really have the numbers between the two.

Look at the last newsletter. I'm looking for it but it's a little lost in my email. lol.

@Nat Hunt BB actually separates them out in the newsletter, so it's easy to see which sells in greater quantities.

Great Keyword+Keyword are now hard to get under $1K

Keyword+ ly and .io are often cheaper and end users like them as well.

It can take a while to learn BB's tendencies (it took me forever and I'm still learning) especially when there are exceptions to the 'rules'.

For example:
  • OneProfit and ProfitApe are likely accepts while OneApe is a likely reject. Why? Weak keywords.
  • BigVault is a likely accept while BigVaults is a likely reject. Why? Companies rarely use plurals for their company names. Exceptions might include names like: JetTravels or FastTrips
If anyone wants to send me 5-10 of their rejects I can give you some feedback. Often I can perceive a pattern in the rejects and I may be able to save you some time and money. Maybe make your learning curve a little quicker. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Thankfully, I got most of these names from the drop and then used Name.com.

I still got some accepted and I already had an inquiry about one of the rejected names; however, I'm heading to my drawing board now (google sheets) to study and start over when it comes to two word brandables. So, hopefully I'd have this mastered at some point.

Remember that BrandBucket is not the benchmark of what a good name is. They rejected plenty of great names and accept plenty of hand-reg that are pretty bad to look at, let alone use of a brand.

If you have names rejected just use them on your own site. Quality cannot always be seen by one person, where as another will see it as amazing.

This is a great point. Not to make BrandBucket the center of your universe. Buy names that you feel you can sell/list on NP, GD premium, Afternic etc. Have a back up plan. Some people have done well on BrandRoot. There is no one size fits all. Every successful domainer has a variety of methods for turning a profit.

Also remember that many professional, full-time domainers only sell 2%-5% of their folio annually. This is a speculative industry. As Drew Rosener of Media Option said: Most of the names we own, won't sell in our lifetime. We can't expect success with every name. It's a numbers game so make sure you have a written business plan that includes real estimates for sales, acquisition costs and renewals.

Forget the acceptance rate-what's the SALES and CLOSING rate of your portfolio-that's all that matters. All the rest is noise.

Can you let us know what are you basing the statement "companies rarely use plurals for their company names" on?

Also, I assume BB does not specialize just on company names, but brands and brands don't have to be the same as company names. For example, P&G has hundreds and hundreds of brands. Are you saying that companies rarely use plurals for brands? Really? Any stats on this?

BusinessCoat - not a brandable, really, how likely would a business brand on this?

Zaayo - not great letters and an awkward double-A in there, ending in -O tends to be good though

WeddingProperty - not a brandable, just a two-word description of a thing, and what is wedding property?

Cureb - 5L get accepted a lot, but this is more clumsy than smooth

Unhazed - doesn't make sense

Luvific - i guess Lovific would have a better chance

Luvexy - same thing, but i still think Love is not a great keyword that you can just stick any old suffix on

Piqip - awkward, bad letters / combo of letter, try to think smooth

Wrabs - silent W at the beginning of a made-up word is tough

Doxfo - maybe had the best chance of all of them, but still not great, fo sounds like foe which means enemy

@Nat Hunt - Thanks for replying.. I expected Zaayo n Doxfo the most to go through.. And for WeddingProperty, I thought some agencies who kinda deal with end to end stuff related to wedding (dress, makeup, wedding location etc) might find this domain good. But will re-consider my strategy while registering Brandable Names. Thanks much.. :)
