A holoprojector would project a stand alone holographic image with no glasses, lens or goggles around your head....

as much fun as this holo hype is - hololens is really AR

cause there's really nothing holographic about it at all

there's more augmented reality and 3d mapping then there is holographic anything

It's not a matter of them getting it wrong. Holo works for them because they have billions to grow a brand. It has no relation to a bunch of domain registrations that contain "holo". It's the initial domainer hype and bust.

I am because I gamble on the future. What you won't see me do is rush to sell domains where the market is growing. But whatever works for y'all domainers...

Where's this "rush" thing come from? I have had the domain for over 2 years..........I choose when I sell a domain not someone from a forum

It seems a rush because holo lens just dropped. If the market is going to be huge, and you post lots of news articles, why not hold for a big payday when it matures?

microsoft just found it much easier to brand with holo than the term augmented or mixed reality... i'm sure they really didn't want to spend the time trying to explain what 'augmented reality' is and spend more time on the sell of the product.

Holograms are coming... and a ton of services will follow
... but as exciting as something like this for someone like me who - has been researching, registering and renewing these names for six years now... these are not really holograms

Why is Holo a bad name for branding?

HoloApps sounds far better for a brand, rather than HologramsApps. If MS markets it in a way that Holo becomes cognizable & relative with Holograms, Holo does sound better for companies, and short too, which matters in terms of domains a lot.

I have always flipped domains and having paid off £20,000 worth of debt doing so I think I know domaining and part of the tech market......I now feel like I should take it down from flippa because since I have mentioned the name and the comments that have followed trashing it, I'm not sure I will get my price.......Cheers Guys!

i didn't say holo was bad at all
.. i said the 'augmented reality' was a big clunky name to build around and that MS probably chose to focus on holo as a branding term instead.

Holo is far better in my personal opinion, than Holograms, in terms of brandability, short & easy to remember as well.

but holoprojector is not really that good of a name... honestly.

it's no different than the silly names that people register like, CameraPhone, or VideoPhone.. 'movieTV'

I'm still not sure why you think holoprojector is a rubbish name? Really? A normal projector could not project holographic images, a 3d projector could not project holographic images, so why is HoloProjector that can produce holographic images and is yet to be invented like the one R2-D2 uses a daft name?

Coming from someone who promoted their "mobiholo" ........with logo a couple of pages back..........when I find the "Rookie" to buy holoprojector, I'll pass them your info too...
