3D โHoloPortationโ
lets you Virtually Interact with People in Real-Time Microsoftโs Holoportation is a new type of 3D capture technology that allows high-quality 3D models of people to be reconstructed, compressed and transmitted anywhere in the world in real time. When combined with mixed reality displays such as HoloLens, this technology allows users to see, hear, and interact with remote participants in 3D as if they are actually present in the same physical space. Communicating and interacting with remote users becomes as natural as face-to-face communication.

Fans of Star Trek should be familiar with the concept of teleportation. While current science has not reached that stage yet, something similarly exciting is brewing in Microsoftโs labs. The companyโs latest innovation is โholoportation,โ achieved by the HoloLens. Simply put, this could be our typical Skype video calls of the future. What it does is simple, yet magical. Holoportation enables a user to appear anywhere in the world, in real time, as if he is actually there. The userโs image is captured in 3D by cameras placed around the room. It is then stitched together, compressed and transmitted so someone else can see, hear and interact with him as though heโs right there with them. You can even playback previous interactions, as though โwalking into a living memory,โ and miniaturise the content to make it easier to consume. โImagine being able to virtually teleport from one place to another,โ says Microsoft research manager Shahram Izadi. This technology is still evolving and is, at present, not for everyone.
Each HoloLens cost $3,000 at present. But as its usage increase, production is going to go north and the prices south. The future sure looks exciting. Check out the cool demo video below and watch out for Sergioโs grand entrance at 0:13.
I have no idea what heโs doing but it looks funny!
I was searching for good Holo Names got this one...I also searched whether VRvoyager or VoyagerVR or VirtualVoyager are available...but they are long gone and VoyagerVR.com is a developed website...
LimpidArmor demonstrated their armored vehicle solution at the Arms and Security show, held in Kiev from October 11-14. Their solution provides real time 360 video from outside the vehicle as well as tracking and enemy identification information.
Given the lack of demo or video footage of the actual solution, is unclear how close LimpidArmor's solution is to deployment readiness. What is clear is that there are a variety of compelling Microsoft HoloLens military use cases in the areas of training, simulation and on the battlefield. LimpidArmor's as well as the Israeli armyโs C2 Systems Department announcement represents the first wave of showcasing and validating such military use cases.
