discuss Discuss and Showcase Drone Domain Names

SpaceshipSpaceship
Watch
I have recently read that the drone industry is trying to change the word "drone" to something different.

The word "drone" has a very bad rep. for obvious reasons.

What do you think will happen with the word "drone" and drone domain names?

Feel free to showcase your drone domain names on this thread.

:tu:

If Amazon crowd-sources drone deliveries, I can see a demand for such names growing.

Beyond names, a delivery route framework will also need to come together, in the next year, as I can't see hundreds of delivery drones from dozens of indie operators zipping back'n forth, like pizza delivery drivers, over private property.

That's one of the reasons I'm pushing, via DroneTV.com, the streetlight system becoming the framework for drone deliveries... as it rides atop the existing roadway infrastructure, has built-in power -for continuous drone tag-team style package transport. And/or zip-line style power cords attached to the drones (which is the safest way to go).

The plan also includes parcel bins that clamp-on to lightpoles -to hold the day's packages, with final delivery synchronized to the customer's arrival at home... so there are no packages left on the doorstep.

BTW, one of the cool things about drone deliveries no one has mentioned yet... is the added excitement of being able to watch your new goodies make the journey to your door. Unboxing vids will never be the same.

Only a very select few names will sell to companies in the transport/delivery business (Ebay, DHL, Amazon etc) and even with these companies the following issues still remain

1) They will probably just use their existing sites anyway
2) If they dont, they will more than likely own the name they want by now anyway

Amazon owns over 45 drone names (PrimeDrones.com, AmazonPrimeAir.com etc) already so this has been in the pipeline for a long time

I can see a lot of startups in this area as large companies like Amazon, Ebay etc have cornered this market and that wont stop any time soon

I hope Im wrong, but I wouldn't reg too many names in this sub-niche

I think Amazon has their head in the clouds on this one.

Are the drones going to be cameraless? It's the only way it would work in order to protect privacy. And just wait until a pedestrian gets hurt by a delivery drone. It'll happen and lawsuits will be filed left and right.

Btw, am I responsible when the drone attempts to land on my porch for delivery and I smash it with a bat? After all, I was just playing ball with the kids and the drone got in the path of my swing ;)

Likely this type of delivery will be GPS based, which has no requirement or need for cameras.

Secondly, of course you are responsible. Who plays ball with the kids on the porch? ;)

Wait until a passenger gets killed because they went on one of those jets that take you on holiday! It will cripple the industry...oh wait, no it hasnt. Big companies should litigate for the worst happening.

They have to descend long before getting to your front door.

You make a conscious decision to fly on an airplane. It's another thing when someone gets injured or killed by a faulty drone attempting delivery.

What you mean like when somebody gets run over by a car? Totally not their choice or fault, yet I still see the car industry is going strong.

The fact is, acidents will always happen regardless of what caused it. The world doesnt stop just because a plane crashes or somebody is run over. Drone industry will be no different.

I was razzin' you about playing ball on the porch...hey, I thought it was funny! :D

I see the argument, but still feel you are overthinking things, and/or underestimate the technology involved, which has advanced far beyond such trivial concerns.

Likely these delivery drones will be programmed and automated, not having time or ability to deviate or diddle around invading privacy and stalking folks along the way. The companies using this technology will have delivery deadlines to keep as part of their service guarantees, etc; not a hidden agenda to hopefully see some scandalous behavior in a house along the way.

I think it is obvious how drone deliveries will be handled. They won't be going to the front door.

It's not obvious to me. Where does delivery take place?

In a galaxy far, far away...

Probably similar to what current UPS, FedEx, USPS drivers do now, they leave the package at the door, or similar location, and update tracking number with a scan of delivery times.

Either a community drop location such as group mail boxes or roof top drop points that get lowered by the customer. Drones will be nowhere near the public, way too dangerous..

Also drones will have set fly zones.

In other words, drone delivery isn't going to happen. Now the customer has to go to a group box or other location to get their stuff? No thanks, I'll just keep expecting my packages to arrive at the house as usual. Otherwise Amazon is worthless.
