discuss Discuss and Showcase Drone Domain Names

I have recently read that the drone industry is trying to change the word "drone" to something different.

The word "drone" has a very bad rep. for obvious reasons.

What do you think will happen with the word "drone" and drone domain names?

Feel free to showcase your drone domain names on this thread.

In regard to how the FAA is tackling the issue of safety, clumsily:

FOX Sports will be using drones at the US Open Golf Tournament- live broadcasting from the drones during play. As long as there are no crashes, this looks promising. The US Open draws a whole different crown than the Indy 500.
I'm wondering what term the commentators will be using to reference them. I'm betting they start with 'UAV's' but end up using 'drones' by hour 2. Will they use the term 'droning?' Damn I hope so!

With no open comments app, like Disqus, FaceBook, Share Buttons or feeds... unless you sign-up to Jason's Blog... it feels like he's simply trying to ride drones to drive his own metrics.

@Ralph2472 @jamesosix

Politicians lack the will, and gov agencies lack the resources, to effectively deal with drone safety issues -before the issues 'deal with drones' (Japan just put in strict bans in response to the guy landing a drone with radioactive soil on the Prime Ministers roof).

The drone industry, like other industries wanting to avoid bad PR & legislation issues, needs to police itself.
I dont believe that personally. All industries come with inherit hazards and are regulated to the point safety is paramount (look at the holiday industry for example- how many planes have crashed and killed people since the advent of flight?) Regulation isn't a bad thing imo, but you can't rely on trusting people to behave, there is always one person (like the guy you mention) that has to spoil it for everybody else. And if its not human error, it could be technical errors.

^^@jamesosix

In the case of drones, the absence of broad regulation, coupled with the presence of conflicting, some would say stupid, regs (like its legal to fly if your an amateur but illegal if your a pro), along the Exemptions for a few... creates an void where an industry would otherwise be taking-off.

Also when it comes to drones most 'regs' will be in the software: GeoFencing, for example, before the fact -in Japan, would have avoided the issue and the resulting ban, after the fact).

And, even if the FAA has the regs ready now... there is no way to enforce them. The industry will need to police itself by supporting... a drone pilot driven, community based, unmanned police service that functions much the same way Business Districts operate; provide security, clean-up, community PR and other services local gov is unable to deliver -at the level needed.

yeah i think the software side of things will be a massive part of the future of drone tech and geofencing will become the standard. Glad I got KeepDronesOut/com :D

In a theoretical futuristic world, I imagined we will have so many drones (or such) that it's going to be difficult to store them, like cars in Rome or bicycles in Amsterdam.
I therefore registered ParkDrones/com
Is that too much of a SciFi assumption? :)

While most consumer drones will be parked in a carrying case, I like Park Drones for nature parks, which now ban drones -in large part because they are loud and don't fit-in.

A great biz would be offering parks a line of quiet drones that look like various animals -what I call Autonimals (the butterflies would be a best seller).

People would actually rent & fly them via the cloud -so more people can enjoy the parks without leaving a trace... and the Parks would get a much needed new rev stream, while able to limit the numbers flying.

I think we just solved the Parks v Drones problem... and the butterflies can swarm -like a tour group.

And they had beat me in the auction when the name had dropped.

I let them win it as those were early days for me in domaining. :)

How about ShopDrones.com? Any thoughts about the quality of the name and the estimated value?

^
As I recall, ShopDrone.com sold for $330...

so, by comparison, RentDrones.com is the brightside of low $ales in that category.

I would say ShopDrones.com is more valuable than ShopDrone.com though. The plural in this situation is worth more in my opinion.

I agree, but the singular, DroneShop.com is the overall Category Killer, IMO... and its an active site.
