I have recently read that the drone industry is trying to change the word "drone" to something different.

The word "drone" has a very bad rep. for obvious reasons.

What do you think will happen with the word "drone" and drone domain names?

You are wrong... check the aftermarket for drone domains... someone on here picked "Build Drone" not long ago.... so my friend.... it's very easy and possible to get gems.

Finally a senator who has nailed it.. not all of them seem to be old and senile *thumbs up*

Specifically, Schumer is urging the FAA to reconsider its proposed line-of-sight rule, which requires that all unmanned aerial systems (UAS) fly within the visual line of sight of the operator.

In a letter to the FAA and Commerce Department, the senator writes that this requirement “could significantly hinder the potential for UAS in many commercial usages … including agriculture, mining, construction and infrastructure monitoring, land surveying and mapping, and delivering necessities to rural communities.

You are wrong... check the aftermarket for drone domains... someone on here picked "Build Drone" not long ago.... so my friend.... it's very easy and possible to get gems.

I am not disputing the fact you can buy gems on aftermarket, but still Drone delivery will be huge anyway , soon or later, and US is not the only country in world.

I'll go on record as saying, no way drone delivery will "take off". You ask why? The list of reasons is too long to dive into!

I dint ask , but it sounds to me like the critics in the beginning of automobile era ,saying the same phrase- that this will NEVER take off too, for many reasons - at their time at their standpoint.
It is your legit opinion and mine is the opposite . The future will tell the true .

Big difference between a vehicle on the ground being driven in well marked lanes.
And drones in the sky that can be all over the place.
Look at the airline industry right now.
How many close calls they have.
But drone delivery of anything?
Like Keith said, too many problems there to list.

We're at a point in time where privacy is a huge issue. It's not feasible to have camera equipped drones buzzing thru residential areas to drop off packages or pizza.

People in well to do areas go to great lengths to ensure privacy. How do you think it's going to play out when drones are zipping around the house?

Before judging whether something can or can't be done, or it will or won't happen, it sometimes can serve one well to step back and see if solutions can be designed that might address problems well enough, and then judge. Eg. Adding to rokoroko's jammer idea, another thought might be that delivery drones could be signed onto something like a gov't grid that takes them over when they're making a delivery, controlling what the drones are doing, where they're going(?)

&/or could something like the proposed Elon Musk/Google satellite network offer something like that? &/or .....?
