I have recently read that the drone industry is trying to change the word "drone" to something different.

The word "drone" has a very bad rep. for obvious reasons.

What do you think will happen with the word "drone" and drone domain names?

Attended the terrapin show last year. 2014. I think its the biggest show in the industry. Regged some names based on the insight I got from talking to the exhibitors, attending the talks/seminars and combing the industry magazines and flyers I was bombarded with. Looking forward to this year`s show

One thing I noticed from the show is that the industry insiders tend to use the words unmanned or uav rather than drone. I can only remember seeing two companies with drone names Droneinsure and DroneTestCentre.

Now up to $85... I don't want it either; am wondering if Predator is a TM, too.

EDIT: Yeah it looks like it is: "The General Atomics MQ-1 Predator is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) built by General Atomics and used primarily by the United States Air Force (USAF) ..." from Wikipedia.

CIA/Drone .... what do you guys think? Just regged it. CIA/Drones is ludicrously priced at $20,000.

My question is, what kind of budget does the CIA have for purchasing .coms? And if the CIA wouldn't purchase this domain name, who else would?

My understanding is that it's not a violation of trademark/copyright to have government agency names/abbreviations in your domain name (ie CIA/Drone). Can anyone confirm this?

Again...wouldn't the CIA have regged this domain name, if they were planning on using it for disclosing information about their secret drones, or maybe making assassination drones available to the general public?

I think you're safe with this domain name. I'm sure the day the CIA wants it, it will just disappear from your GoDaddy account.
