Thoughts on potential value (end user)?

Thanks.

The irony is that OP is asking for advice, but he is more knowledgeable than the majority of commenters in this thread. There are very very few .net that ever sold for 5 figures, let alone 6... let's be realistic for a minute.
Good thread for us newbies to learn from though (varying opinions, potential google TM issues etc.). I like a nice .net but it seems they just don't sell for much.

there are absolutely no TM issues owning that name
TM issues can arrise only if you infringe a TM by the use of the domain

diesel engines are used by about half of the automobiles in europe
and in nearly every truck

owning diesel.net
would give a great boost to company images
like VW or Mercedes , Skania
and some of them really need it

That is why 1) I have just a simple "for sale" landing page (no ads) and 2) have not/will not be contacting Diesel.com/โ„ข holders re: the availability of the name.

I think I have sold only 2 .Nets in the 5-figure range

company.net - $23,000
ares.net - $21,500

The majority high-end sales (5-6 fig.) go unreported.

Yes, you may freely use it for something else like NightClub's name...
But if we are talking about engines - it is another story... that's why this term is banned.

And this is 100% enough for UDRP-panel to be considered as "bad faith".

As a fashion brand, it is clear the domain cannot be used. As a standalone generic useage, the domain is fine.

gasoline is called "diesel" in germany

in germany nobody thinks of fashion
when its about "diesel"
at least not firstly

a mix of cola and 7up is called "diesel" too

- does "apple" belong to the iphone maker or the beatles ?
-- yes you are right to the beatles

I'm no expert so unfortunately can't even gauge a price, but at ยฃxx,xxx a great sale. Well done at finding a clearly valuable (as the gurus seem to suggest) domain. Good luck with finding the right home for it.

Woooah... really? I would think a domain like this could get a killer price to the right end user.

I don't have much .net experience but man, that's a beauty. Imo $15k would be reseller pricing... but off course, I don't claim to know anything :)

$150 K? Jeez....Give me a Break you might as well aim for 1 Million at that rate ..Sure why Not.even lottery tickets have some limitations.. I Agree with Federer $25 k is pretty Good for the .Net Maybe a Push to $40 K will be Realistic.

My Opinion only.

I think $15k-$25k would be attainable with time/patience. There are a large number of businesses (national/international) that could use the domain as a powerful marketing/branding tool across a variety of business models.

It's a really good .net, with huge potential use in some big industry areas. I wouldn't see a problem contacting the aforementioned company too though if there's no bad faith on your part. You'd simply be offering to them your great generic word name - which happens to be their brand name, in arguably the second best TLD after the one they already own. On the surface it would seem a very suitable acquisition for them. They might be pleased to secure it before somebody else.

Or am I being naive? :)

Risky investment in my opinion, as any attempt of contacting a TM holder and slapping a price tag would be considered bad faith.
Lottery ticket if it was the one that matters :xf.grin:
Great name to develop nonetheless.

Thanks for the advice guys - I'll be careful with this one - hopefully it'll sell at some stage for $8K-$15K range.

Decided to send out a PR - we'll see if it helps get word out and attracts some solid offers.
