Got an email from register.com today with an offer for a free domain, no strings attached... and they're right! Anyone else get to take advantage of this? My free name I registered was DeluxeDental,com... B-)

Tracking code in the email, so no pulling a GoDaddy this time... :p

I have a free domain there. But I'll have to call them to get the auth-code if I want to transfer my domain out.

Is that really the only way to get the auth code? Calling them simply for the auth code is pretty screwed up.

What info do they ask from you via the phone? I have one domain at Register.com and I'm dying to transfer it away.:td:

Yeah, got my email yesterday and went to the site to get mine, then they asked me for Credit Card info which I don't have, seeing as I'm 16 -_-. Oh well.

You might be able to buy a pre-paid card... the kind you can buy at grocery stores, etc... But that kind-of defeats the "free" part of all this...

You may try other ways to get the auth code.

I haven't tried to call them yet. Maybe I'll just give the domain up.

"Maybe I'll just give the domain up"

If you like the domain and wish to keep it, don't give it up just because you
have to make a phone call.

Registrars are REQUIRED to make the Auth Code available.

If you are shy or uncertain of dealing with their sales staff, just tell
them someone wants to buy the domain and transfer it to their Registrar
and you want the Auth Code.

Be nice but be firm.

A while back I sent an E-mail to support and demanded the EPP codes for 2 domains won through snapnames, to be sent to the admin contact E-mail. They actually complied but the process was weird. First they sent a secret code to the E-mail, I had to reply back with this code then I got another E-mail with the EPP codes :snaphappy:
