Did Some Cruisin' Around The Living Room Today

I got a parakeet about a month ago.. he's still not tame enough to get on my finger but I let him out for a few hours today for the first time.

Here he is relaxing on his cage on the desk next to me.



He'll let me pet him but he's not too keen about getting picked up yet! I got him back into the cage by carrying him over on a magazine, lol!

One of my old birds hated me typing.. he'd crawl down my arm and nip at my fingers.

Yeah, I'm sure this one will tame soon.. he lets me approach and pet him while he's out.. just has no idea what the "up on my finger" means yet!

I've had alot of birds in the past.. 8 lovebirds and two parakeets.

They're not hard to tame.. takes some time to establish their trust. They will usually bond quite easily to you, particularly if they don't have other birds around.

Keep in mind tho that birds are quite intelligent.. they love stimulation and toys. They don't like being left alone.

Actually, it IS a male bird :p You can tell (usually) by the blue band (cere) on his beak.
