Dgital.TV

What are your thoughts on this ?

It is pronounced the same as "digital TV" ...

The US must switch-off of all analog terrestrial TV broadcasts by 17/02/09 ... (source: wikipedia , scroll towards the end of the page) ... Near that time (or some time before it) its value will probably increase rapidly ... Many countries have similar schedules ...

Could be used for a site with info on digital TV switch-off , a trendy (brandable) Internet videocast , a site for digital products/TVs , etc

currently it is for sale here , but I think the starting price is rather low ...

Doubtful, but good luck. I have seen crazier things happen.

Tippy - some consonants are pronounced in a manner that they include a vowel when your say them ...
eg. "D" sounds like "Di" , while "M" sounds like "eM" or "X" sounds like "eX" ...

for example I own Xcellency.com which would be read as "excellency.com" if I make a banner depicting a big "X" before "cellency" ...

this way some domains can be used to create a brand ...
also a number of typo-hits might occur since a person might skip a letter by mistake ...
lastly , in the case of Dgital.TV it is very short and could be made easily into a brand with a nice logo ... eg.

Dgital.TV

as an extreme example of this , intel owns XLNT.com (excellent)

Perhaps u may be interested in two of my sites.....

One is 0260.TV - a sports car website where all cars with oooomph can get from 0 to 60 really fast...

Or how about Paperview.TV......PAYPERVIEW phonetically......I was told and now understand that playing on a name with .TV is really a bad move....these belong to the .com world...and short of alot of marketing as a brand name, will not be worth the reg fee....

Having said that, if you like this type of reg - let me give you the ultimate phonetic reg of the century......SX.TV is available at $300 per year after discount............be aware though that when you check acronyms and abbreviations, sex does not show up in the list......

Good luck though, as Silicon has stated - stranger things do happen....

MX - I understand what you mean that .tv is a more "sensitive" extension than .com and that it needs bigger caution ...

... but I think that using the letter "D" that sounds like "Di" in a word that is directly connected to TV (like digital > Dgital is)
... is rather different than using a word that , even though the "phonetical version" is connected with TVs , the actual domain ("paperview") distracts from the "PayPerView" interpretation because "paperview" has a meaning on its own which is also kind of unrelated to TVs (unless it was promoted for a newspaper headlines' viewing videocast or something) ... there might be some typo-hits though ...

Secondly , I think there is also a difference if the "shortened" syllable is in the beginning of the word or inbetween where it might cause confusion ... again though this can be solved with an extra large letter-syllable or with an appropriate logo ...

the 0260 and SX domains look rather better than paperview (and could possibly depicted even better with a nice banner) , but basically I own mostly .coms and have only a couple .TVs without planning to buy more right now . Thanks for the offer though ...

Thanks for the wishes , dude ... maybe someone that likes it will pay a fair price ...

there doesn't seem to be much interest for Dgital.TV so I dropped the price , the increments , the end time and the anti-snipe in the auction ...
