A user 'EBKNET' wanted a logo in namepros chatroom, i told him i can do this. We added each other on MSN, he gave me details on how he wants the logo and i gave him a quote.

He agreed and i got started on the logo.

ten minutes later i have a concept ready for him. after six revisions i had completed the logo.

Guess what happens?

He disappears, with a rip of my logo.

His whois is protected so i cannot phone him.

the website where the ripped logo is located on is http://www.euroroot.org

if you look closely you will still be able to see the watermark.

What do you suggest i do?

That's rather cheesy of him/her to do. There's not much you can do really other than highlight that person here so others can avoid doing any business with them.

btw - nice logo design.

Sorry to hear that here is his profile, http://www.namepros.com/member.php?u=39092 I assume an admin can give you his ip, then u can report it,hopefully that does something. But I had a t-shirt design ripped like this aswell.

You can see the watermark here : http://www.imageslash.com/show_image.php?file=kEwM3136031.jpg

Thankyou for replying :)

Is there any chance that i can call up Namecheap and ask them to give the real contact details?

edit: namepros username tdps.co.uk

Hello. The same guy asked me for web hosting in the Namepro's chatroom last night. I'v only just found this thread as i typed his site into Google. The guy signed up and sent me paypent, we also added each other to MSN Messanger. Just after i sent log in detials for his hosting account he tells me that he wants a refund or he will file a dispute in paypal against me, wich he did allthough i was having problems with my internet connection and i just had to send him the exact price plus a few more $ to cover paypal fee's back. He seemed allright, just a normal guy really but thanks for posting this by the way,

I'd just like to point out that I've dealt with this guy quite a bit in the past. Several years ago he was a hosting client of mine - always paid on time.

I have recently done a HTML Job for him - job has not been paid in full however I did receive the down payment of just over 50% (and the payment terms were negotiated previously, so thusfar I have not been cheated here either). If I have not received the rest soon I will update the community.

Jason - I remember he was telling me about being unhappy with a host about 1-3 weeks ago (it all just blends to me!) I am unsure if that is you or not, but it is something I would like to point out.

I guess I would like to just point out that thusfar in all of my dealings with Devon things have been going fine. Of course, if something happens on this project I will be letting every community I am registered on know, but until then everything appears to have been running fine (I will have an update by the end of next week).

Thankyou very much for everyones help.

I gave him a call in the afternoon but no one picked it up.

I will try give him a call again in the evening and maybe even record and update this thread after that. :)

Thank you.

I will just update everybody with my progress in dealing with Devon:

I tried ringing him at 9am his time yesterday. The connection dropped out many times, mostly when I got to introducing myself. While it initially did appear as if Devon was hanging up, he came on MSN not long after and we spoke about other payments owing. That (at least to me) points that I was not being avoided, and he explained to me that he was having PBX problems.

I will keep everybody in the loop, and confirm if / when I get payment so his name can be either cleared, or his reputation worsened. Thusfar due to previous dealings with him I have no reason to not trust him.

Maybe after he has paid you, you can mention something about the stolen logo.

He has blocked me from msn.

I mentioned it to him earlier, and he claimed that the logo was made with a free online tool etc which was not worth the $50.

I am in no standing to make a judgement, but from previous history I have to trust him. If I havn't got my money in about a week I'll be back reporting it. If I get it, I will report it as well.

ah free online tool, that is why it still contains the watermark. :)

around six revisions were made for him. I won't show you all the revisions.

revision 1 - http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/8360/sample1hv2.gif

revision 4 - http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/1861/sample4hu5.gif

revision 5 - http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/6381/sample5xi7.gif

revision 6 - http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/5683/sample6ba7.gif

He ripped revision 4 from me. He even requested that the background colour to be changed to that colour. (To make it easier to rip for the sad unskilled little kid.)

As you can see the watermark on these logos match the watermark on the ripped logo.

Now that does not look like something created from a free online logo maker.

Maybe you could ask him the url for that free online logo maker?

By the way what is he using for his msn address?

This is not acceptable behaviour... clearly, he did not want to pay for Jaynesh's logo, which in my opinion being a designer myself, is unique, professional and deserves the payment he requested.

He also signed up for our webhosting services, but we rejected his order right away and made a refund of payment; we do not want to involve with someone with a low standard of ethics, until he sincerely regrets his mistakes and resolves this issue by paying for the work he requested from Jaynesh and others. Until then previous history does not prove anything

@ PolurNet - I am not saying it is acceptable, what I am saying is that from previous history, he has always paid me.

I probably should have added a line break in between those two paragraphs, as the second paragraph was referring to as a whole. I am a designer as well - I am not in any way claiming that I agree with his methods ,I am merely posting here what he told me :)

As I said, within a week I will either be showing proof that I was payed (so we can begin to clear his name and figure out what the mix up was with Jaynesh) or will be confirming Jaynesh's claims.

Clear his name? He has already been prooved to be a scammer.

A scammers name can never be cleared.

But i am interested in hearing his side of the story in this thread if he is denying he is a scammer.
