If you could choose:

Would you rather have a very well developed website that brings people in with a longer domain name that would be worth registration fee?

Or would you have a website with mediocre content but a great name, like a dictionary word?

Which would probably fetch more to be bought?

Just wondering. I know that a developed site can exponentially increase your profit of sale.

I like to be practical: Domains with traffic (type-in, typo, expired with traffic). Don't get it with traffic? I like Ovt + extension domains.

Good Luck.

It would depend on what time I had on my hands. If I had time to manage a developed site with a bad name, I'd take that. If I didn't have time, I'd pick up a generic domain.

A developed site would fetch revenue while it's developed, and would provide even more when it's sold. A domain would only provide the second half.

It would reply depend on the final goal you had in mind.

For example, if you wanted to develop a brand from this website (i.e youtube, myspace etc) you may want to go for the shorter domain name with average content and develop it from there.

The longer domain name would be better if your trying to make a quick buck, but in general go for something that will be easy to remember, even if the domain name isnt keyword rich.

Going for a household name -->> Shorter Domain with a great name
Easy Traffic/Money -->> Longer Domain (which im guessing is keyword rich)

My 5 Cents:)

i will be even more prectical. if domain makes money, than its good domain. if it is developed website with lots of traffic, clicks, leads etc and even if keywords are very long, it is still good!
if i am going to have a choice between a dictionary word and longer doman but developed one, which makes monthly income, i am not going to wait for months untill right buyer will show up with price i want to buy my dictionary word, and all of that months sit with no money. I would definetly choose developed one.

If the domain is reg fee only,
I may wanna to develop it to get more traffic.
And it is not a difficult task but very time consuming.... ie seo, backlinks , promotions etc

Normally, I'd always go for the domain name, and this would naturally depend on the domains you're considering (a good dictionary name would be easier in many ways to develop for example). BUT this is like the proverbial note on how a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. That is, a developed site is already that, developed, presumably with good traffic and users. A domain name can have value in itself if it's a good name, but an "ongoing concern" of an existing, working, active site has a whole lot of value in itself.

You succeed by executing and doing. That goes for the domain/website business. Having a thousand great ideas without implementing them gets you nothing. (Or as they say, you always miss 100% of the shots you don't make.)
