I'm sure plenty of you own one domain in different extensions
e.g. hockey.com, hockey.net, hockey.org (haha would love to own these)

What would you do,

if you had to optimize your sales, would you:
a) concentrate on developing one domain and redirect the .org,.net to the com
b) develop each one seperately=> mini-sites, landing pages, etc. to benefit from the great keyword

Of course another option would be to develop the com properly and build mini-sites for the other extensions, what do you think would be better SEO-wise?

Thanks for input :D
Oliver

P.S. happy after-independence day ;)

Edit: Let's assume little/or no type-in traffic, although hockey has probably lots of typeins

If you can come up with good, different content you may be better off developing more than one. Google ranks my mini-site a little above my sales site - while Yahoo ranks the sales site better, can't even find the mini-site. The mini site has tons of links to the sales site.

So different sites can be different doors to the same store. I would guess the same can be true with PPC. The other side is that your PR could be split and thus diluted.

you can actually develop into different types like forum, blog or a turnkey site btw but focusing on one niche.

i always have pretty limited time for promoting my names (getting links, etc). this is the biggest reason i wouldn't develop two sites.

But if you could solve that - Sweeet!
